Battlefield Play4Free pits the forces of the United States and Russia against each other in a 32-player online combat game for the PC that, like its "free" predecessor Battlefield Heroes, won't cost you a pretty penny to download or start playing.

Spring 2011 release.

Do people still play BF2? Maybe they should have just released that as free and found a way to make money off it instead. Though I guess I could try this out if it has a decent number of maps and players. I liked all the variety between the game and add-ons though. Having only 2 sides will be less cool.

Gameplay looks like it has potential this time at least, let's hope they don't ruin any chances it has with terrible player limitations and the same shitty cash grabs Heroes had. I understand they're in it to make money but Heroes was pretty awful for it iirc.

What was the verdict on Heroes exactly? I was in beta, and all I can remember was how simple the gameplay was, and the lack of voice-chat being extremely irritating.
(that and having to pay to have access to basic stuff like emotes and cosmetics for a 'limited' amount of days)

They added weapons/clothing/etc. that could only be obtained by buying them with war funds (Premium currency)

Also, CNC4 Beta Keys as well as MOH beta keys work for this.

edit: Laggy and basically unplayable. Not worth the effort until it's settled out.

What they basically did was take Battlefield 2 maps and put in Bad Company 2 stuff with Heroes leveling system. So from how it looks. Next year it's going to be more of Battlefield Pay4free.

Got a key. It's not that bad. The problem is you'll often get pointed to a server out of your region. If you get a good in region game it's pretty smooth. Shame that they made the same old shit from BC OP again. m9 is redonk. Mg3 is redonk.

90% of the time you'll be thrown into a laggy server but its still fun.

Heroes was atleast fun. This is laggy, buggy and generally awful.
