Theres no reason to ever "NQ" a pouch unless you're severely lagging:

Wasn't it determined the one time we tested that out that the timer for that was too small for normal lag to make it be accurately replicated at all? You'd have to be directly plugged into the server to even hope to accurately abuse the randomization system.

Had abj. for quite awhile, decided to pick up a -1 finally. 13 tatters for TA+3, other stats junk tho. Good enough for the rare times I use WAR.

so since i am fucking rolling in cash right now and dont want a relic i decide to get an ebisu. i have 55 fishing from like 5 years ago.

100 trades total later i have both items. then i was a little sad because i realized i would have to buy a lu shangs; even if i could eventually get to 78 fishing without it the extra time that could be spent fishing with ebisu wouldn't be worth losing.

it's like an escher painting of first-world problems, really

Why the fuck would you need lu shangs to get to 78 fishing? Its no slower with another rod

It's actually "faster" to get at least 75 with another rod because you can still off "Too Small to Catch" and not have it count toward your daily quota. Not sure about fish from 75->78.

was my understanding that i would get a substantial number of line breaks if i hit nashmau without lu shang's. is that incorrect?

While we're on the topic. I came back on a new character that had 80 fishing already. What is the best course for me to take to level it up? Do I need to buy a lu shangs? The quest is already done on the char and the rod was sold/given away.

I know I say this while flush with succe$$, but how are your cash reserves? You might be in a position to go ahead and start throwing Liks/Gugs down the well to get Ebisu. On Bahamut, Lu Shang's is 7.5 mil, Liks are 20k, and Gugs are 25k, so I think you would have to be EXTREMELY unlucky for Ebisu to end up costing more than Lu if your server's anything like mine (I ended up spending about 2 million to get Ebisu), and you'd eventually want to get Ebisu anyway.

So basically unless the odds beat you to death you're looking at spending the same or more money on a rod that starts getting demonstrably worse at the levels you're going into, which on the upside you can resell but won't unless you're going for the better rod or getting out of fishing entirely. Not much of a point in Lu's that I can see.

My understanding is that matsyas are a pain in the ass that involve a lot of prep work and not really worth the effort involved in pulling them up. I am not at all a reliable testimonial source but I plan on sticking to hakuryu.

fish mats for the shawl for yourself. don't bother trying to sell them for profit. they don't sell well enough for enough money to be worth the headache.
