"Legit", no -- reasonable in the scope of this game however? -- it shouldn't be surprising at all. Again, keep in mind that this shit is just spat out of a box straight into your lap, from a mob that is exceedingly easy to spam.
Also, no -- I have had "below average" luck on all of my VW drops (aside from a wild mextli harness I got while spamming for Mala, and 1/52 on Athos body). Fortunately I haven't gone 0/400 on anything, but I have never seen anything worth mentioning drop to me in less than 100 kills outside of mextli (lol), and athos.
If the dagger is worth all of the backlash I got for saying ~1/1000 isn't too horrendous, then setting up 12-24 qilins per evening should be worth the effort. Even if you don't get the dagger yourself, you'd probably bump into a couple people that would be willing to sell you a pulse cell for 5-10M
There's actually been a guy on Leviathan shouting to buy Aytanri cells for forever now. I think he's like 2/5 after 2 weeks of shouting. It's not that it's hard to sell, it's that there aren't many of them around to be sold. My pulse cell: de sold within a few hours for over the ah price, and delphinius is terrible. At least, cells sell pretty fast on Bismarck.
Frankly I'd take the pulse items instead of a cell because personally I'd take a really, really rare shiny over 5M or whatever, even if I'm only holding it as town gear/playing around. But then again, I spend most of my time gearing a worthless job. =P
I'm just one of those rare-ophiles I guess. In the grand scope of things, 5~10M is a decent chunk, but it's a relatively small amount if you're going for the truly expensive things (REM/Hexed-1).
The only time it makes sense to me to actually farm a VWNM for a pulse item is when it still has some other drop to offer.
farming pulse items isn't even close to being practical, it's more like going for HMP's and riftcinders with an added bonus. nobody ever goes to a fight expecting a pulse item to drop.
Woo, first VW body :D
God knows on numbers as I don't count but it's the expected lots and lots and lots. I switched from Ragna to Apoc to White proc, clearly it must increase your drop rate! (Joking in case anyone thinks I'm serious...)
I had said pre-pop Coru did not exist and I was only there for the HMP hence the bottom comment. The person saying to pulse it is my wife!
Didn't have GW loaded to record for FFXIDB as my POL crashed the previous kill and forgot to reload it D:
Your wife plays a male character right? Gender games, in my FFXI?
Yep. My wife plays a male character and I play a female. Our friends affectionately call us 'The Traps' (since I was nicknamed Trap for obvious reasons by them). Just to make it a little weirder, we both met in game too so it wasn't like it was planned.
Only in an MMO can a dude playing a chick and a chick playing a dude meet, fall in love and get married even though they were 4600 miles apart. All the while this being considered a perfectly normal and acceptable thing to do. We've been together for close to 4 years now and will have been married for 2 in January. Bonus for me is that Orlando weather is way nicer than UK weather!
Surprised no one's started calling you 'the von Trap(p) family' yet. Hopefully I've just given your friends a new idea.![]()
Grats Jem! But I disagree on the Weather thing simply because of UK's healthcare! And fuck hot weather!
Backstory: I used to be a "hardcore Voidwatcher"; I was like always doing it until about a monthish ago, when I started fishing after spending all my voidstones + CP + AN + IS + millions of gil. Got a lot of drops so really can't complain.
Tonight, after what seemed an eternity for me, I came back to an Ig-Alima shout and got this:
Spoiler: show
The "wtf" part is, I got Borealis few months ago so, this is the second drop, and considering Borealis drop rate:
http://ffxidb.com/items/19174
(0.15%?) I can consider myself "lucky"![]()
1/129. I'm sure there's been plenty worse records but it sure felt like I paid the iron price for this piece...
