Dorp XXV: wtf bynes.

So after wiping to this guy once before due to a echo drop lag, I popped him 2x today, first time I played too defensively and ran out of mp and wiped at 22%, second time he popped with convert down and no mp, so I had to DoT zone hold him until I unweakened and converted (Got him to 27% before he impact stream stunned me when I was curing myself, so ended up wiping again). Finally Managed to kill him and went 1/1 on the smn cape I wanted so much.

Fuck sea capes! I hate walking around in there. Any strata for owl eyes Nm? I hear bst x2 and a thf is enough.

MNK,THF,WHM is how I do it. Sometimes requires zombie tactics if he is being gay.

This really is the best way. Like Taint said just be prepared to have to zombie for a bit.

Soloed him twice on Dancer. I don't know what causes Gravitic Horn damage to spike, but he never hit me with it for >2k.

I remember doing him at 90 cap tri boxing mnk thf and whm, never had any issues. Sounds like I got lucky and he was nice?

He's either just annoying (strips you constantly) or he get lucky with a 5k+ Horn.

A) Actual treasure hunter traits augment the first couple tiers of TH to be more beneficial/do other things and TH+1 from gear simply adds the 1% drop rate or something similar that has much less impact
B) Tarutaru Sash is broken

Not enough evidence to suggest either of those to be absolutely true at this time, however at the moment I have individual coin drops for BST and BLU at 2.12448 and 2.12349, almost identical, and BLU should be blowing BST away if it has an entire TH tier over BST.

Doubtful, seem to recall a rep post stating that BLU's TH was the same as THF's due to it being too much work to adjust or somesuch.

I sold quite a few of these at 90 dual boxed with mnk + whm/thf. Occasionally would get rough but normally it went just fine. Can't imagine it would be a problem at all now. Also I've found /thf with a th sash to be just fine for both blue drops and empyrean trophies.

the most annoying part for me was running my thief in to tag it and running it out and not having him decide to horn me then while my totally legit whm cured my thief instead of me.

You could say the same thing in reverse; where is the data that points to TH+1 from gear being equivalent to tier 1 or 2 of the job trait? I've asked that several times on this forum when people have claimed them to be equal, and never gotten a real response.

As it stands, we know next to nothing about the specifics of Treasure Hunter. There has been so much speculation for as long as this game has been around about how the trait(s) work, and it has lead to many long-standing possible misconceptions.

When talking about Treasure Hunter, you probably should be making no assumptions about how specifics work because nearly everything that has been posited doesn't hold up entirely.

I think that the treasure hunter traits I II III have a more siginificant impact on drops then +1 on gear. Thats at least how I see it.

I'd narrow that down to TH 1&2 from personal experience. TH3 seemed like TH 2.1 to me; welcomed upgrade but never saw a whole lot of difference on big drops. To back Cair's statement though, no data to give evidence to my claim. Much like any other treasure hunter claims; mine is based off eyeballing and loose speculation.

What we know about treasure hunter:
Does it drop from a mob as a sub 100% rate? Bring a THF
Does it drop off a mob at a 100% rate? You dont need a THF.
Does it drop from a treasure chest? You dont need a THF.

Did i miss anything?
