Yes, i'm starting to notice the pattern and the problem. The greater rates of political apathy and prejudice is troubling.

Just keep in mind that people who get entrenched in the natural sciences generally care about their research more than anything else.\
There's exceptions to the norm, but it IS the norm.

Sorry I didn't argue against this outrage earlier, but I must have missed it. My explanation is probably quite close, assuming that all science departments everywhere resemble my genetics professor from undergrad, at all times.
