Post Your Favorite Instant Noodle Thread!

Instant Noodles..quick sodium packed goodness, we all pretty much eat them. Hell, some of us live off nothing but them...But what is your favorite type and brand?

My current favorite is Nissin's Souper Meal, tho I'm always on the lookout for something better.

The 농심 brand 육개장 (Yukgaejang is a spicy noodle soup with meat and assorted other goodies) is top tier, though I don't remember seeing it in The States. I think they made a spicy ramen that you could get there in a red container with a big Chinese character on it. Maybe it was called Shin Ramen or something like that. Here it's 매운 신라면 or Spicy Shin Ramen.

EDIT: Found it. It's called Shin Bowl in America, I guess.

This, only substituting onions (green and yellow) in place of the soy sauce. Jalapeno is a good addition too. :D

Er, I meant a soy/water mixture, not straight soy. My bad :O

^ You're good--that's what I figured, I was just stating I don't put soy sauce in mine at all. :D

Do you boil the onions into the water/noodles, or do you have no liquid in the final product? Sounds interesting

This is the only correct answer.

I boil the water/noodles/veggies together, but there's still a significant amount of liquid left when it's done. It's basically a version of korean style ramen that's served in restaurants (instant ramen--usually shin or spicy + veggies). :D

Not so much for taste over others but because it has the lowest calories/fat/sodium that I've seen after checking mannnny packages. Best thing to do with this is throw some frozen veggies into a pot of water, wait for them to cook, throw in the noodles, wait a few, add an egg or two, let them cook as long as you want, then drain the whole thing. Throw it in a bowl and mix with hoisen sauce and chili sauce. NOM :D

My favorite cup of noodles has to be Nissin if for no other reason than this:

Found these at one of the Asian Markets we frequent. I don't know what it is about them, but they are amazing.

It's reeeeeeeaaally easy to make egg noodles with almost no added salt. Just get an egg, cup and a half of flower, and a pinch of salt.

-Put the flower and salt in a bowl and create a little crater in the middle of it.
-Crack the egg into the crater and break the yoke and slowly mix the whole thing together starting from the inside.
-Once it is mixed well into a doughy consistency, flower a surface and throw the dough on it. Roll it until you get it to about 1-2mm thick and then flower the whole surface real good. Fold the whole thing in half and make sure the side you just folded over is flowered really well too, then fold it again in the same direction as last time.
-Now get the biggest, non-serrated knife you have and cut perpendicular to the fold in 2-3mm thick slices. The thinner you get the noodles the better, but I've found that when you get much thinner you really have to have your technique down well otherwise you end up with a useless doughy mess.
-Get 2-3 cups of water/any kind of stock (I personally use low-sodium) and add in your veggies/meat/egg, then bring to a boil and add in the noodles for a good 5 minutes, possibly more if you don't have a good rolling boil when you add them. When done, the noodles will have a firm but soft consistency.
-Dish out what amount you want, add desired sauces, and ENJOY!

I know it seems like a lot, but the whole process doesn't take longer than 15 min if you get the broth boiling with the veggies and stuff while you prepare the dough, and it is so much more satisfying than cup noodles

Mm.. instant noodles. Honestly, I like the Ramen Cup of Noodles. Though I wish the ones I got had the 'vegetables' separate from the actual noodles. Some of those taste so fucking bad.

cheapest and therefore the best! I usually add one egg and some green onion if I have it, that's it.
