Bought a new computer, running Windows 7, for Black Friday and after a lot of unnecessary hassle with Steam, I managed to get FFXI installed and Windower working... sort of. Windower won't turn on. What I mean by that is that I'll select the "Launcher.exe" and it'll open the POL viewer, and it'll even say "Windower Enabled" with that little picture of the mandragora on the taskbar above the POL Viewer, but when I hit the "Play" button and the game actually loads, it won't work. Plug-ins aren't loading, and Alt+Tab or losing focus crashes the game. There was a similar problem on Windower's forums (>here<) but it was never resolved, and those forums don't get updated a lot.

Now I don't know if this'll help diagnose whatever the problem is, but I managed to find a sort of workaround: if I launch FFXI, crash it by Alt+Tabbing, and then "Play" it again, it'll work, but the process is annoyingly tedious as well as inefficient, not to mention that I have to wait for that "Character Already Logged In" bullshit.

You will need to right-click on the Launcher.exe (or shortcut) and select "Run as administrator". You might also want to change your User Account Control (UAC) settings to not dim the desktop when applications ask for administrative privileges. This will prevent POL from crashing if you launch something like ApRadar that also needs to be run as administrator to work properly.

I recommend against disabling UAC altogether from a security standpoint, but the settings I've listed will allow you to play without having to go through too many extra steps.

Do you have an IR transceiver? If you do, you'll need to disable it to get FFXI working properly.

does 10% WS aug Main hand weapon work(eg GKT) for RANGED WEAPON WS(eg sidewinder/namas etc) when equiped?
if it does work is quint spamming better or WS 10%damage better?

WS DMG+% only applies to the weapon it is on.

Depends on your set up.

you probably fought already, but comet does around 700 dmg with shell V up. it's not that bad. death/hadal are your main issues. Even then, it's hilariously easy to kite him around the nearby rock.

Depends on the job, level. The easiest way is to get smacked around a lot so go job/war in a pickup abyssea exp pt and do your job.
