Bought a new computer, running Windows 7, for Black Friday and after a lot of unnecessary hassle with Steam, I managed to get FFXI installed and Windower working... sort of. Windower won't turn on. What I mean by that is that I'll select the "Launcher.exe" and it'll open the POL viewer, and it'll even say "Windower Enabled" with that little picture of the mandragora on the taskbar above the POL Viewer, but when I hit the "Play" button and the game actually loads, it won't work. Plug-ins aren't loading, and Alt+Tab or losing focus crashes the game. There was a similar problem on Windower's forums (
>here<) but it was never resolved, and those forums don't get updated a lot.
Now I don't know if this'll help diagnose whatever the problem is, but I managed to find a sort of workaround: if I launch FFXI, crash it by Alt+Tabbing, and then "Play" it again, it'll work, but the process is annoyingly tedious as well as inefficient, not to mention that I have to wait for that "Character Already Logged In" bullshit.
