If caffeine's the problem, then why single out Four Loko? Tons of alcoholic drinks have caffeine in them. These cans are slightly smaller than a bottle of wine, same alcohol % as many wines. You can chug a bottle of wine too if you want. The can says it's 12% ABV all over it, it's not a secret.

The caffeine isn't hiding shit. If there's anything "wrong" with this it's that people chug it like beer (LIKE I SAID LAST PAGE) and not letting the alcohol "settle in" so they can determine their drunkeness. It's not about caffeine "keeping them awake" or whatever the fuck, they're just drinking too fast.

To recap: There is nothing "special" about Four Loko - there is only something "special" about people who chug it like it is beer.

From a quick google search the average recipe for vodka and red bull is 2oz of vodka to 1 can of redbull. For a 40% alcohol vodka, that's an 8% alcohol by volume drink. I guess I'm not the only one making

I think you're missing the point in that these aren't classified as an alcoholic drink so kids under 21 can drink them. and are using them to get a buzz this isn't about the caffeine, it's about the alcohol and the fact mixed with caffeine is making people sick.

actually one of my favorite drinks is "shocker" irish coffee. You are missing the point. you attacked someone who said they hide the alcohol with another flavor claiming "but it's not that much caffeine!" as if that made his statement incorrect. And you seem to think that people are overblowing the caffeine aspect while ignoring the fact this isn't about drinking 4 cups of coffee, it's about drinking four cups of coffee mixed with a bunch of other shit.

Alright, I look at it this way. Alcohol has the potential to kill you if you drink too much. Whenever I am dealing with anything that has the potential to cause me bodily harm, I'm going to be a little cautious with it. When I start drinking, I drink one, let it set in, see how it feels, then if I need to, drink another. If you make the choice to go all out and shotgun 4 cans like an idiot, no, I'm not going to feel bad for you when they have to take your ass to the hospital. Pace yourself and learn your limits, that way you can get that special kind of drunk where you're still cool and you don't turn into a burden to your friends. With Alcohol (or drugs for that matter) its important to know your limits. If you act without knowing or with disregard for your limit, you are be responsible for the consequences. If you told me "I was smoking crack, but I couldn't tell I was getting high, so I smoked more crack and ODed", I wouldn't feel sorry for you, so why should I when you say "I was drinking 4loko and I couldn't tell I was getting drunk so I drank more and got sick."

These kids aren't getting sick from the fact they are drinking 4loko, it's because they are drinking too much.
