Hmm, didn't hear her in ages also but doesn't sound like her to me (granted, I actually stopped listening to her before her style kinda changed or something).

Remember how Avan could choose any class he wanted in Valkyria Chronicles 2? Valkyria Chronicles 3 lets all of the Nameless Squad members do that.

Sega gives players a new way to customize players with the Master Table. By connecting lines players can learn new battle potentials. In these screens Kurt is extended his abilities to acquire a new ability called "high potential." Players can scan the entire grid in advance to plan paths towards strong potentials.

Battle potentials strengthen characters during combat. Valkyria Chronicles 3 has another type of potential too, personal potentials. These are natural abilities which you get at the beginning of the game or earn by progressing through the story. Not all personal potentials are advantageous, some may handicap characters too.

One other difference between characters are their special actions. Kurt Irving’s power sounds particularly useful. His Direct Command ability lets him move without draining the AP gauge. Also, any comrades with him won’t take any damage.

Riela’s command unlocks her Valkyria power. She becomes invulnerable to damage after transforming and shoots enemies with a beam from her Valkyria spear.

Imca’s Open Arm command lets her shoot all of the enemies on screen with her special gun called a Vár. If you can all of the enemies in one spot its possible to eliminate multiple threats with one move.

It says Open Fire right on the screenshot... yet they wrote Open Arm.
    wat.

Unfortunately no new info there other than you can plan the path to the potentials you want without a guide with that Master Table system.

If VC4 comes out on PS3, it might just be the best thing yet. I'm loving the stuff they've added in 2 and 3, all it needs now is that graphical update. PSP just doesn't have the same style I fell in love with at first.

Famitsu introduced Gusrug, the only tank driver in the Nameless squad. When you need to arm your characters talk to Carisa Contzen, she runs Gallia’s army supply shop in Valkyria Chronicles 3.

Players can equip weapons on tanks and characters. Change the gear of Nameless Squad members and you’ll change the way they look too. When you switch equipment Valkyria Chronicles 3 alters the appearance of party members.

It’s also possible to buy accessories in the game. Famitsu says there will be many of them and each affects an ability from a different branch of the army.

Fully agree with this. Loved a lot of the stuff they did with VC2, but the re-use of the same stale and boring battlefields got incredibly repetitive, and the same mission types. Also all of the characters looking like carbon copies with different heads (see: that one little girl) was a bit ridiculous. I don't even think that was mostly due to "PSP limitations", but I'm sure it was the cause or source of some of it.

I'm sure it's part PSP limitation and part time limitation. But that did annoy me as well to a degree, yet I can respect that.

I loved VC1, VC2 got pretty stale due to the reuse of maps and the fact that you had to do a lot of "prep" missions before you could actually do the story mission. I felt VC1 was a little better in this regard. Personally I did not like the way you leveled up your class in 2, I found that my Engineers, and Tech's got nothing while scouts, lancers and troopers hogged all the rewards.

Overall VC2 had a decent story, good gameplay, and was well presented. I'm hoping that they can improve on 2 and again so with #4.

What the... how do certain classes "hog" the rewards from leveling up when you manually choose each class to level yourself? As well as which classes weapons to upgrade...

I'm pretty sure to get rewards for a class you just have to use them, like shoot in the air randomly or use ragnite and they'll get something.

Oh right, he's talking about the award things that you use to class change. That makes much more sense.

That system was such bullshit, everyone would get what another character needed, so unless you farm missions upgrading classes was a bitch.

    Yep.
For most of the game, however, the advanced classes aren't really necessary and while they can bring a lot to the table... most missions aren't set up so that you'd need them at all, even for A rank.

The final mission is pretty different with some souped up snipers though.

I think I'm still in September or something D:

And yeah, sure it may not really be needed, but where's the fun in that? :D

Agreed, I've been trying to get some Sniper Elites for fucking ages and either the wrong people get the award, or I get some shitty other award I don't need.

Some of the class change just flat out broke the class though, Commando's flamethrower is insane, and the techs actually become useful when they 2 shot barriered V2.

And the whole award farming is fucking ridiculous when you almost solo a mission with a certain character, then the tier 2 he/she needed was awarded to the units who "accidentally" killed with interception.
