Call me a cynic but regulation and oversight hasn't protected us from recent disasters..

I'm not saying it does either, but it's not like it's front page news whenever regulation/oversight actually works. You only hear about planes that crash, not the 99.9% of flights that are safe

There are about 30,000 better comebacks than that. Really now, trying to insult Priran and falling flat, that's a whole new level of autism.

Not sure how we got from natural gas to nuclear energy. Nuclear produces electricity - natural gas (usually) doesn't. Granted, you can have electric heaters and electric stoves instead of natural gas burning ones - but one source is not a direct replacement for the other.

natural gas accounts for ~20% of all electricity generated in the united states

The thing that really still gets me is that we only burn petroleum for less than 2% of our electricity considering how much we obsess about oil

    Wait... what?
Could you re-parse that so it's a bit more clear.

imagine a one gallon jug represents all water on earth, including sea water and water frozen in ice at the poles. one tablespoon would the represent freshwater we drink

If all the world's water were fit into a gallon jug, the fresh water available for us to use would equal only about one tablespoon.

    Aha, much better, thanks.
The initial reading made it sound like there would only be 1 tablespoon of water, for each person.
