‘Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt’ Dubbed Anime Episodes Get Premiere Date
Curious who they will get for the actors. And if they can get the ruuurruuus right. It may be a bit down the line, but members of the FUNimation EVS program now know when they’ll get to see some dubbed episodes of the anime series Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt. The company is set to permiere the first two episodes of the series on May 29th for EVS members, which means that we’ll likely be seeing some physical media solicitations soon for the show. You can see more about the show at the official FUNimation site for it here.
Plot Concept: Panty and Stocking are nasty angels who were banished from the pearly gates for being foul-mouthed bad girls! Now they spend their days hunting ghosts in the lecherous abyss between Heaven and Earth. Panty likes sex, Stocking likes sweets, and their afro-sporting main man Garter Belt has a fetish we can’t mention. Together, they’re keeping the streets free of bodily fluids!
Going to be terrible most likely, they will censor it. The ending too...they are going to make dubkids who watch this so upset.
Nah this isn't something Funimation would even attempt to censor. They kept Rin ~ Daughters of Mnemosyne and stuff just fine.
i could have lived my life just fine not knowing this maguspk.
I'm not (much of) a dub hater, but there's no way this'll be as good without the original VAs and gratuitous Engrish.
I'm betting that they do what they usually do for Anime that uses English - flip the English to Japanese.
Although if they do that well, I can think of more than a few of things that completely lose their jokes. Ruuuurruuus being one of them. Maybe they'll use Spanish. It would be appropriate too, and some of the words done correctly could have the same hilarity.
Stocking's 'Hi Panty, what's up' still gives me chills.

LOL no. Have you ever watched the FUNimation channel? Granted most of the stuff they used to have was dubbed for kids, but now a lot of their dubs are aimed at the proper audience with little to no editing. Not only that but if they can broadcast the anime Sekirei with no editing blatantly showing naked breasts and nipples on the air, then they can do Panty and Stocking without any editing.
Yeah, whole lot of bias floating around. If shit hits TV, odds are you can blame the network censors more than the distributor.
Well it depends on what channel it's being shown on. Anime shown on basic cable like the CW is dubbed for kids and is adjusted to be more kid friendly. FUNimation doesn't have control over what they can show, but oftentimes they do tend to make some odd editing decisions. However, since they have their own channel on premium cable (Used to be on FiOS ) they pretty much could show whatever they wanted and had a lot more freedom. I didn't notice this until a while back when my girlfriend was watching one of the shows (FUNimation is pretty much the only channel she watched) and she pointed out to me that some of the characters were dropping F bombs left and right. The biggest shock was when we left the TV on and Sekirei came on with girls fighting and getting their shirts ripped off exposing their breasts. I thought to myself at that point that if Panty and Stocking were to come to the US dubbed, it would most certainly have to be on FUNimation where they could get away with the kind of antics portrayed in the anime.
Anyways as it stands right now they released the series on their Paid subscription service to stream online and its subbed and uncut. I am not sure if it is even being broadcast on TV but I can't check because Verizon removed FUNimation last month due to "low viewership", but that fiasco is another story.
Funimation's site for P&S has the uncensored eps with subs that their subs can watch
I will never understand how Mexico can support a 24 hour Anime network but the US can.
"Cartoons are for kids."
