i mean more of a usage standpoint, I guess I never really was much of a Heavy Armor user in previous ES games because of the weight/slower speed and because I didn't feel like it fit with my mage characters... but it seems like in ES5 everyone is wearing Heavy Armor, so I'm wondering if there's someone who understands the pros/cons of Heavy vs. Light armor and wants to share.

Noise/speed/stamina usage, as some people have mentioned above. You'll eat your stamina bar faster if you're running in heavy armor, unless you want to be "stuck" using the Steed Stone.

Also, Light armor you can sit at 50-70 of your capacity used when you leave to go somewhere, heavy armor will eat another 50-70 of your storage space. I play a solo character and don't take followers so heavy armor would make that damn hard to pick up everything with.

You can't run while crouched/sneaking... unless Silent Foot simply enables that.

Unless of course you're talking about not holding shift. Either way, if your Sneaking is even high enough to purchase Silent Foot, you don't need to be holding shift to be silent. Even less so if you have any of the Thief or Assassin boots.

Exactly. Whether shift or using capslock, theres fast sneak and slow sneak. Silent foot removes all penalties from fast sneak.

It's odd. Like when you reach 100 lockpick you can perk "unbreakable picks".... which are silly because you have 100 freakin' Lockpick. If you haven't figured it out by then, you can load up on Fortify Lockpick gear... and then you don't need unbreakable picks now do you?

You can turn off auto run and become way more silent (if you're lacking any of the thief/assassin boots it's incredibly noticable around certain mobs)

You know I find it odd, I have both the Thief's Guild and Dark Brotherhood gear that gives you Muffle. Soundless movement. It isn't soundless? I can still hear my footsteps. I don't know if it simply doesn't ALERT enemies as I have never tested it as I prefer to use Sneak+ or Carry+ boots currently. Actually, both those sets kind of disappointed me in general. Not sure what the final DB armor is like, but I hope it is better.

There ya go! Well done, there's a reason for the F5 quicksave beyond "gotta make dinner"

Skyrim adventurers, take heed! F5 is your friend, and saves you from all sorts of disasters. Until every CTD is patched to extinction, you take your game in your hands whenever you go adventuring for a while without a quicksave.

They seem to. I've fought my way through to Blackmarsh a couple of times now. Cleared status seems to have more to do with snagging the treasure at the end of the dungeon than clearing the enemies.

I believe these have the month respawn timer. I was given bounties for the same place twice in one playthrough, but it had been a while between them.

It took me forever to find a Wood Elf, ended up shanking that archer from Riverwood. Later I got a letter from Sven stating: "I know you killed him, I won't tell anyone." O_o

Did you put it in a bookshelf to read it twice?

Not sure what the deal is, but im crashing to the desktop every 10minutes now while playing my assassin character, didn't happen this frequently when I started the game last week... has there been any fix as of late?

I'm having the same issue. Completely non-altered installation. Bugging the hell out of me.

As for Light/Heavy Armor, my mage (with some stealth elements) has been using nothing but light armor. Archmage's Robes/Morokei/Destruction Boots/Hands have all been light, with the feet being swapped out for Silent Foot.

@Atreides, one major reason you're seeing more people using heavy armor in Skyrim is because of the way smithing perks work. the smithing perks don't make a distinction between armor and weapons, so if you want the highest-tier weapons (daedric, ebony) you need the perk that allows you to smith daedric and ebony armor. the end result is that a lot of people have the ability to forge some badass heavy armor, so they decide they might as well do it.

I had one of the randomly generated dark brotherhood quests to kill a wood elf, so that worked out pretty well for me. You can read the Daedric Book twice though? That's awesome.
