Here's a question; if my armour rating is at or above the 80% cap at 570something, do I still gain any benefit from casting stoneflesh or one of the other mage armours?
Just finished discovering every location in the game world. So now in South Park fashion I can "play the game".
I'm amazed at how mish mash my armor is right now. It's got pieces from the Dark Brotherhood, Cicero's armor, and Thieves guild armor. I look like a firetruck on fire. Horrifying yet you just can't seem to look away.
I feel like something's off about this. Not only do I take a literal 0 damage from a lot of things at 1350 armor, but there's an eyeballed difference I can notice between 1150 and 1350 armor (equipping my shield or not, without blocking) most of the time. Is this something confirmed by the Devs, and is 570 the universal number for this? I just can't fathom that the Devs would make the Heavy Armor tree inherently worthless by capping Armor Rating so low =/
570 could be a "soft" cap of sorts. Say 0-570 is a fairly straight line from 0-80%, then it's an exponential curve from 570 up to get to 99% mitigation. This would work out decently to allow Light Armor to be viable against heavy melee still, for heavy armor and a 2h to be pretty solid and for heavy armor and a shield to be nigh invincible.
conjuration has been altered so spells only raise your level if casted in the presence of an enemy... or something like that. I'm not sure of the exact rules but you can't just sit in town casting bound dagger all day long anymore.
I grinded conjuration by spamming soul trap spells on weak mobs. got levels fairly fast that way.
It kinda' makes me sads that there's no acrobatics/jumping/etc. to level up. It's hard to pull Assassin's Creed getaway type shit out of town after you murder someone in plain sight. I was also hoping to be able to get on top of houses and buildings in town to start my sniping sprees.
Ok, not as bad as I thought. Kiting mudcrabs while spamming bound axe...got 18 levels so far
Really wish i had more Magika regen gear though ._.
I've had some epic getaways regardless though, personally. Like afterSpoiler: show
Oh man, I had one of those after

I ended up running through the entire town with every guard on me, hearing the *whiss-tink* of arrows hitting the walls/ground all around me, jumping down stairs, over porches, through gardens, did a Slow Time shout and was dodging incoming arrows like I was in the Matrix... and then I ran straight into the palace and hid in some dark corner of the Palagio's Wing behind a bar covered in cobwebs until the shitstorm blew over.
It's just bullshit that you can't jump while sprinting.
do the mage's guild questline (college of winterhold). once you finish it you'll have 150% regen between your headpiece and robes, plus 50 bonus magicka and 15% cost reduction across all schools. and that's just two pieces of armor. from what I've heard it's the best mage equipment in the game outside of enchanted gear you make yourself.
