If both of your dual wield weapons have the same name and show up as x2 in the favorites menu, switching out one of them will cause the game to unfavorite the other one if you have one of them equipped ever. It's weird. But yeah anytime I go from using 2xglass daggers to 1xglass dagger and a spell I have to go into the menu to get my 2x glass daggers back.

Anyone know if fencing a stolen piece of gear and re-buying it removes the "Stolen" flag?

Speaking of UI being a pain in the ass - has anyone found a mod to categorize house chests? Because as a hoarder of mats/potions/god knows what, it gets old having to cycle through a chest's entire inventory just to pull one or two items.

hey Plow, (late responding to this, I know) check out Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning. There's a thread for it. Out in Feb. It's Elder Scrolls-ish, but with what looks to be a pretty awesome combat system, not sure on inventory management particularly, but might interest you a bit more.

Laptop is about a year old Sony I7 processor, either 6 or 8gb ram, and Geforce M520 with 1gb memory. Anyone know of any performance issues with these specs I should be aware of before I get it for her?

Skyrim is doing something retarded on PCs (laptops especially). I can't really tell you what it is, but I've had a ton of overheating issues with it, even with all settings (including resolution) shoved as low as they can go, despite having a laptop that well exceeds minimum reqs and runs games like Witcher 2, Civ 5 and DA2 on fairly high settings with no problems.

Tons of people have been reporting the same type of issue, and there doesn't seem to be a permanent fix in sight. It may or not happen for you, and lowering settings makes it better, but you still might run into problems. Right now I can play it perfectly smoothly even on High, but I need to keep everything as low as possible to play for more than 5 minutes at a time, and even then I still have to restart the game every 20 or so minutes to prevent my card from going over 80C.

Yeah equipping things in left and right hands never works for me, I have to use the 1-8 hotkeys and hit it twice if I want it in my right hand, then once for whatever I want in my left.

The menu UI in general, even ignoring these bugs, really blows. I've seen enough people stumble around using it and all of the unused space yet nearly 80% of the space is used to show a useless model of the item, no stats, nothing until you hover over something, etc. Truly awful. Sure I've grown accustomed to navigating entirely by my left hand on the keyboard with all the game's menus but the UI is still poorly utilized.

Try playing with a controller much smoother to me. Whatever you want to equip just hit up then scroll down to your fav then assign it with the trigger buttons and go. Can't get more fluid than that.

pausing the game to equip something because you only have 2 hotkeys (by default anyway, i've got 7 mapped to my controller) is more fluid than just hitting a button ?

It does! I play with controller at work and mouse/key at home. The experience is much more engaging with a controller because the input device isn't constantly getting in your way. Mainly, they just designed the UI around controller and a mouse/key interface just feels like an afterthought without much polish. Too bad, really.

Late to this but there are companions that do sneak along with you. Or perhaps that was just the ones I got during quest related events, but there's got to be some who sneak when you do (like thief guild people). I never have tag alongs though; might give it a go sometime and see. Only problem I had was them commenting every time I fired an arrow outside of "combat," they'd say something like "Careful!" or "Hey watch it!" usually when I'm sniping something across a room.

And I got the wonderful bug that I'm still counted as a werewolf yet I cured myself of it during that one quest to cure that other guy. Days as a werewolf still increases while I don't have the power/actives anymore. The guards' wolfy sayings are kind of funny though.

Spent over 100hrs so far, lv55, cleared like 180 misc quests, found just under 200 places so far, filled up all my bookshelf spaces across three houses with books found in dungeons, total gold created is around 360k and have tons of crap filling most storage spaces across the houses, and completed like 7 main missions. lol. I could fast travel to nearly any quest location when I was going through the guild quests. Made them so quick... Most smithies stock ebony ingots (invested 500gold in a bunch of them, so maybe that has an effect?), I'm finding daedric gear in dungeons, most of the potions I come across are those full heal ones, draugrs are now diamonds (finding random gems on everything; thank you lockpicking perk).

My save game is reaching 14megs, only because I'm not running around fus roh derping all the dinner tables, but I've looted so many damn dungeons it's silly. Maxed archery this way, now going about playing with mehrune's razor and offhanding that +25% crit dagger. Sad thing is that when both are improved, the crit dagger has a lot more base dmg than the improved razor (razor needed ebony ingot to improve, other dagger needed steel ingot heh), and also daggers don't seem to get their dmg improved by the 1h+% enchantments... sucks. Still fun change of pace from bows.
