I've been attacked in Whiterun before, Just a normal dragon.
Get attacked at the College a lot too >_>, thought college isn't a walled city

Yeah, the college doesn't really count (you can actually base jump off the roof into the ocean if you aim just right). Whiterun, Solitude, Windhelm, Markarth, Riften, and maybe one other require loading screens to get inside and give you a false sense of security.
I've been attacked in both Riften and Whiterun in the past.
it's a nice day with you around <3
Got attacked by an Elder Dragon in Whiterun earlier this weekend -- beat it but saw all the dead NPCs and said fuck it, loaded my save, and quick traveled somewhere else.
How long did it take you to beat it without anyone dying?
i'm level 33 now on my main save, just hit 100 smithing and hit myself up with awesome dragon armor... only to notice i havent killed a dragon in 13 levels. What the fuck?
Progress more in the main storyline missions. I had the same problem where I didn't progress past meeting the guys up that mountain once to get a couple shouts from them, and that was it (I think 5 into main quests?). Went 30+ levels and found ~150 places all over the map without seeing a single dragon besides the first couple, did a few more of those missions and then dragons everywhere.
I did the same on my first character, got ~5 quests in on the main story, saw only the occasional dragon. After getting a few more quests done, dragons everywhere.
I got attacked by one in Falkreath a while back and while trying to scramble and get its attention on me, a lifeless body landed at my feet. I looked down and it was Sven. I thought *hmm* for a second... then continued fighting.
Obviously the first dragon fight in Whiterun triggers them to appear at all... but there's one definitive event that ramps up the encounter rate, big time.

There's actually a ton of those dragon burial mounds that open up as the story progresses. If you visit specific ones at specific points you can see Alduin resurrect them, too.

There are definitely a lot more dragons in the world after that point.
Yeah and frankly I'm sick of dragons on my game. It's basically a prevents-you-from-fast-travel-for-a-while event. Until the stupid thing finally lands to kill it. I don't even take the bones/scales anymore its too annoying gaining all that weight.
Speaking of carrying capacity, what spread to you guys do for your magic, health, and stamina? I remember I was only upgrading stamina for a while at first, but haven't put anything into it since I got it up to 180. Magic's also been on the back burner ever since I got the second restoration perk that lets my magic regenerate faster.
depends on how you're playing. I was straight destruction mage so it was around 70/30 in favor of MP... no reason for stamina, and very little for HP since I rarely got hit.
So is 29% the best smithing/alchemy enchantment you can put on armors? Cause I'm at 100 enchant, smith, alchemy with all the right perks on it just doesn't seem right. Also does the Notched Pickaxe do anything? I've noticed nothing.
If your annoyed with the dragon keeping you from fast travel, you can always just open the console, click the dragon, and type kill. :D
