Holy fuck I can't even deal with Paarthurnax. The way he keeps switching between English and dragon tongue reminds me of an old Jew. IT'S ALWAYS WISE TO MISTRUST A DOV! HOW ABOUT THAT DELPHINE SHE'S A REAL YENTA

Magic's also been on the back burner ever since I got the second restoration perk that lets my magic regenerate faster.
I put 150 into Magicka, which is just about the perfect amount I think. Was never too low leveling up and now I have 4/5 schools covered by enchants, with the pool of 250 covering any mid-fight Restoration. Health is at 430 and everything else is in Stamina. I'm 66.

Just started this game, I'm a breton or something?
My initial idea was destruction and single wield. Currently wearing heavy armor because it had the most defense?
No clue if you can roll whatever you feel like and it'll be a good idea or not.
Tips on things I should definitely get / stay away from when it comes to skills and magic/health/stamina upgrades with this setup?

I would mostly just suggest dropping your Health/Magicka/Stamina in whatever you happen to need the most at the time of leveling up since you'll probably need a decent all-around spread of them at low levels before you figure out what you want to do and focus in anything. Heavy Armor, though, is going to become a burden if you plan on sneaking around and/or don't put much into Stamina to assist in carrying it all.

You can generally do/wear/use whatever you want, and I encourage it, but put the most thought into spending the perk points since they are the only other finite resource towards your character development.

Is there a normal way to respend perk points?

I'm guessing there's a way to console command it but i'd rather stay away from that for a first play through.

I don't think there's any non-console-command way to redistribute already spent perk points. I have a few regrets in my first character...

You can save up perks until you decide on what you want to do, too. Keep that in mind. I know a few people here saved up their first 10-15 perks until they found a playstyle they liked and then spent them all at once.

Edit: And you can pretty much do whatever you want and be successful. You can cap armor rating with light armor if you don't like heavy armor. Make sure to take up Restoration at least a little bit for the MP recovery perk, too. That's handy for pretty much any magic user. You may also want to think about what element you want to specialize in with destruction, as there are perk trees for each one.

Lightning magic is mostly single target and instant-travel, and also deals MP damage. Ice magic has moving projectiles, deals stamina damage, and slows people. Fire damage has a lot of large AoEs and does DoT to targets it hits.

Personally, I prefer Lightning magic since I don't have to worry about aiming as precisely (other projectiles can miss moving targets), and I don't have to worry about crazy friendly fire kills all the time. Fire Magic is particularly dangerous in this regard if you plan on having a Warrior-type companion, or a companion at all.

Plus, running around pretending to be Darth Sidious for the first few levels is just fucking fun.

There is the fact that you can wear a circlet and a falmer helmet at the same time though, which allows you to get an extra 29%. I did that and upgraded my shit. It doesn't really break the game but you are significantly stronger.

Oh right. Theive's guild hood can also be used with other head gear (any afaik), though you cannot enchant that without a mod to craft one.

You can actually upgrade pieces past 29% legitimately, using a trick with restoration potions.

I think I went a little overboard though...:

Trying to enchant stuff with that enchanting potion just causes the game to crash though, so you can't really go much higher than this. Also, the weapon always say it has insufficient charge, but it still one-shots anything haha.

Restoration potion abuse! By "legit" I mean no console commands needed to do this.

It looks kinda funny to do, and interesting to see what the game will let you get away with on technicalities, but it seems unnecessarily complicated to purposefully go out and do for the sake of playing through the game. I could see minmaxing a bit with a circlet and falmer helmet, but going into the exploit seems pretty absurd. If I wanted to go that far, I'd just plain godmode. Seems easier (and isn't that the point of cheating, to make the game EASIER?).

i quit playing because the game was just simply too easy even on master so cheating would have some appeal to me being as it would entertain and get me through the story line quicker, but that's just me.

So I know there's something out there to reset perks, but is there anything like that to reset the choices you've made for health/magicka/stamina when leveling up? I would like to change the way I distributed my health and stamina, but I don't want to start over.
