Ahhh smithing. I knew I was doing something wrong. Ok. Off to Warmaidens I go!
My destruction magic just leveled up by... get this, jumping into the blacksmiths fire at riften and getting lit on fire. Also a dragon appeared after I fast traveled sometime today.. and flew circles around me refusing to land. Eventually he flew(clipped) into a mountain and disappeared never to be seen again.
Okay so, I just entered mario level -1. I just got frost and ended up dismounting him right next to a river while moving forward so that after I got off he moved forward a tiny bit and was now standing vertically with his head inside the ground. I killed a nearby giant and then proceeded to get back on frost thinking he'd right himself. What happens instead? I enter 7 loading screens and then finally end up in a void of nothingness. I press m to see if I can fast travel and then the game starts going wonky. Ten minutes later I was finally able to alt tab out of the game successfully and kill the process.
Bleeeh still can't get the Mace of Molag Bal quest started. Maybe I'll try clearing out all of the quests and missions that I can out of the quest log. really hope it's some other quest interfering with it, otherwise there goes my platinum on my 1st playthrough :/
I'm assuming you've tried to go in the house already, so this probably won't help, but could you have activated the quest while previously visiting Markarth? My first time there was cause of the drinking quest to get the Sanguine Rose and I know I started a bunch of quests and then left without doing much else, so could it be something similar like that?
I got sent there that way as well. don't have the quest in my log anywhere and don't remember picking it up. I was watching a video where sometimes the guy glitches and you have to get the quest from the innkeeper via rumor, but the innkeeper never gives a rumor option,.except very rarely and it's only 1 rumor for the hall of the dead quest I already did. so I've been zoning in and out, sleeping for days and trying to get the rumor to show up, but that isn't happening either.
just gonna finish up all of my active side quests and hope for the best.
Ok, so I've finally gotten my enchanting up to 100, smithing is at 100. All the "perks" are unlocked except for the initial ones(both have 3/5 sunk into them.) Should I wait until I can get them at 5/5 before I really start trying to make my God mode gear? Any advice as to how I should be enchanting my smithing gear(ie what's the highest level enchant % I can get, so far I've seen I think 23%.) Thanks.
Enchanting goes up to 29% with full perks. Alternatively, use fortify restoration potions for infinite stats.
I tried the second Elder Scrolls game way back and it wasn't really my thing, but all the talk about Skyrim is raising my curiosity. For anyone who played Daggerfall, has the game changed significantly other than graphics?
Quite significantly. The RPG elements have been very streamlined. Gone are base stats (strength, endurance, etc) and replaced with just HP/Magicka/Stamina - choose one when you level up. Skills still level as you use them, but there are no major/minor skills, all skill increases contribute towards your level gain. Character customization comes from choosing 'perks' (one per level) in the skill trees. Combat is no longer dice-based but based on your actual ability to swing a sword or toss a spell. Combat and magicka spells determine the damage you deal and how much attacks cost in terms of magicka and stamina.
Anyway, it's an amazing game, even for it's flaws, and still retains a great deal of the Elder Scroll's charm.
Just went to a bandit's little campsite for a quest. Once I get there, a dragon swoops down and frost breaths all the bandits and then proceeds to frostbreath the surrounding area which includes a giant. Giant fucked that dragon up. Just too bad it didnt Team Rocket the dragon up into the sky. That would have been awesome enough to not let me be bothered by the fact I'd probably never see that loot.
Finally started doing the main quest and Bam, glitches like hell, Everytime I shout at a greybeard they attack and try and beat my ass
Honestly dood, you get so many dragon bones and scales you'll never hurt for them. Even just passively hunting dragons(ie only fighting them when they attack me) I still have like 80 of each in storage. I got a rude surprise when I walked out of the inn in Winterhold today. I was going from city to city selling shit when an Ancient Dragon swooped down. I'm primarily an archer/2 hander not magic. So of course all I had were about 90 enchanted iron daggers. Ended up having to switch to werewolf which ended up with me killing the dragon while I only had about 1 hit left before I died. Had no healing potions on me and with the low damage weapons I had with me I was barely even denting it's health. So needless to say using 1 dagger and healing myself with the free hand was out.
Wow. Wrong thread. Way wrong thread.
I just realized another Markarth related quest that glitched hardcore. The quest for the Sanguine Rose, which was what sent me to Markarth in the first place.
I cleaned up the temple and then forgot about the quest. Some time later I'm in whiterun and I talk to this girl who's talking about a wedding ring. I had no idea what she was talking about and didn't care. forgot about that too.
So now I was starting up the sanguine rose quest again, and I'm supposed to go to a town and some guy's supposed to tell me to get a goat, but the game is acting like I already did this part and the next step is supposed to be the girl asking about the wedding ring.
Try going to the house where the hagraven with the ring should be, and if it's there take the ring back to Ysolda. If that doesn't work you're probably boned if you're playing in a console, or you can use console commands if you're on pc.
Try talking to Yoslda again and then jumping right ahead to the place you're ultimately supposed to go to. I skipped both the cleaning and meeting my "wife" due to persuasion/intimidate checks so you don't NEED to do them.
Anybody have any suggestions on what graphical enhancements and other mods I should install? I'm about to start using these:
Spoiler: show
Also, how do these mods with .esp files work. I installed them correctly I think but I have no clue what the .esp files are for. D:
Also also, did anyone have any problems with dragon priest type mobs not attacking in the initial patch? I've encountered two so far and both times they just kind of floated around doing nothing at me. I'm wondering if patching would fix it but I don't want to bother if I don't have to since I'm using the cracked version. (If I get enough money for christmas I'll be buying and updated the game though.)
Man... level 66 and thought shit was too easy. Dunno what that patch was but every dragon I run into now is depleting me of potions and fucks my shit up.
In case anyone missed in the Steam thread, Skyrim is on sale for $40 today.
