You could try the challange I'm doing, the bronzed god challenge! :D

Basically you're only allowed to use a 2H weapon to level 30, then get the H2H perk, then you can only wear a necklace, ring, and gauntlets and fight everything with h2h unless you're trying to skill up a different weapon. (and if you hit 100 in a weapon it's back to h2h) Magic allowed of course. It's pretty fun, since you have very little armor rating, and you gotta beat everything down.

I did it in oblivion as well, although I don't think that gauntlets affected h2h in that game, so i was totally naked there. I managed to even beat down a dragon so far at level 7, although it was at adept difficulty and I had to patiently wait for it to land each time. I'm kinda scared to raise the difficulty though, at least till i can one shot the weaker stuff. dragon was no problem, but a troll? holy shit, impossible.

To be fair, this game is heavily reminiscent of Fallout 3, and with Fallout, its the same damned thing. Its just the way Bethesda designs their current crop of games. The fun after you hit this point of "slaughtering everything" comes from brilliant minds modding up awesome things like the "warzones" of New Vegas, which added probably about an the entire NV map's worth of new content and strong enemies/allies.

There just aren't really any/many at all. Azura's Star quest gives you 3 Daedra to kill. Mehrune's Razor gives you a few (3-5) more. There's also a heart in the Companion's guild. Should be most of what you need for armor and weapons.

For obvious canonical reasons there are not many daedra in this game. For less adequately explored reasons the variety is limited to atronachs and dremora.

Hell, it benefited me because it meant I was able to enjoy the game for longer before becoming brokenly overpowered.

The guy was complaining that character creation was left at "pick race, pick face, done!" and I'm just saying he wasn't completely off base.
Aren't you the same guy the "exploited" the crafting system to make godly equipment and then complained that you were overpowered? I don't think not finding the stones to level your skills a little faster was your problem...

I don't know though, I don't want to seem like white knighting the game, but it's just so god damn fun. People don't like to play with self-enforced rules and I get that...it's always rewarding to get the best equip and min/max shit....but I've found through Oblivion to FO3 to Skyrim, the most fun I've had is just making bullshit rules for my character and following those. Coupled with playing on max difficulty setting, it makes if much more fun for me. In a way, that's the charm of this type of game; you can chose to limit yourself or not, it's up to you. But I don't really feel it's a fair criticism to complain that you destroy everything when you did just about everything you could to become as powerful as possible, I mean like I said, the game let's you choose to do that if you want, it's not difficult and it's not like it's an online game where you're competing with anyone, it's just for your own enjoyment....so if you don't like being overpowered then don't play that way.

Is there a mod to skip the intro yet? Started a fourth character, and my god, I think I hate it more than Oblivion's. Not being able to move or interact with anything for like 10 fucking minutes is absurd.

Uh, if getting 100 Smithing is an "Exploit", then take me away, magistrate. Like I mentioned a few times over in other posts, I never even touched Alchemy on any of my characters which meant I never used any of the ridiculous %-stacking buff exploits. I took enchanting to 100 eventually and added a couple normal-level augments to my weapons on character 1. That's all it took, and it was severely disappointing.

On character 2, I didn't even do armor. Pure mage, robes and clothes only. No enchanting, no smithing, no alchemy. Still OP as balls.

Character 3, no perks, no smithing, no enchanting, no alchemy. OP as balls.

    All on Master mode btw.

I get what you're saying, but it's gotten to the point where no matter what artificial limits I place on myself I still end up being too powerful for it to be any fun after the first 20-25 levels.

First time I booted the game up got to character creation spent 30 mins making the perfect person. Get to a clearing with the guard get eaten by the dragon. I saw I had to watch the beheading scene so I say f it and turn it off.

Second time I make a new character, sit through intro get to the part where you have to jump to the other roof and an npc pushes me out the window. I was like wtf Skyrim doesn't want me to play lol.

3rd time make it to the cavern and side with imperials to kill the stormcloak that pushed me out the window. Having fun so far but having to open the menu to switch between my magic and weapons is tiring. O and hoarding lol. I pick up everything I see hoping it will make me rich by the time I get to my first town.

so, who else finds it hard to be evil even when playing a sneak/thief/assassin type of character? I can kill people for the Dark Brotherhood missions when necessary but that's as far as it goes. and I only feel ok stealing from assholes and rich people.

    god damn my videogame morals.

on another note, is it just me or have poisons been pretty well nerfed? 25 alchemy with 2 levels of the first perk and I'm making poisons that do 13 damage... boo.

I was going to start a new character just for being a murderous intimidating asshole because of my similar video game morals. This game ultimately sucks in rewards for being lawful/good at all. You get constant options to kill someone or lead them to their death for some unique artifact... but saving the person in question gets you a little bit of gold at most. Fuck that shit. If you ever come to a moral crossroads in the game, just take the evil route because that's the route with actual rewards.

so i finally just started (for real) this game last night. i had a cracked copy when it first leaked, but didn't really want to get into it that much until i had the legit copy, swtor hasn't helped much either. so anyway i'm diving in. after reading that pc gamer link, it makes me wonder if i should turn off fast travel. it seems like it could make the game more interesting since i'm not in a big rush to beat it or anything. has anyone done this? i've avoided a lot of this thread and other forums on purpose, so i don't really know much of anything going into it, kind of just want to wander around and have a good time (as opposed to say fallout 3 where i restarted the game 15x and reloaded saves probably hundreds of times to make the perfect character/save that i wanted)

Set up your favorites menu and you'll be able to hotkey weapons/armor/spells. What platform are you on? PC can hold up to 8 hotkeys, I think the consoles only get 2. The favorites menu is still really nice for swapping on the fly.

On xbox so I guess 2 it is. 8 sounds awesome. O well I'll just make one weapon/shield and magic/magic I guess.

It doesn't quite work like that unless I'm mistaken in what you mean. It's 1 item per hotkey so weapon on one, shield on the other.

Why would you 'turn off' one of the things that makes Elder Scrolls, Elder Scrolls. Forcing yourself to walk between locations and fight X wolves does not magically make the game better, nor does imposing other meaningless limitations on yourself.
