It is kinda' weak that there are NPCs that are straight-up invincible because they are tied to main storyline quests... but I guess that was somewhat necessary since dragons attack events can/do happen just about everywhere and having someone important end up as collateral damage sucks even more. Still, they should have just made them un-killable only during dragon encounters or something.

Invincible children can be a great source of fun.
I was showing the Wabbojakk (sp) to a friend so I used it on some NPCs in Whiterun. While I was attacking people I saw, apparently 2 people I was friendly with decided to help me. After all the guards and other attackers were dead, I just watched as my two friend NPCs chased around a little kid who was screaming and crying as they attacked him.

Get a warning for thinking someones way of playing the game is stupid. Tonko for mod of the year, not mad.

The fact that you felt compelled to make a post calling someone stupid for the way they play a video game should make you reevaluate some things in your life. Sounds like you are indeed mad...probably at a lot of things. Who cares what someone does to get enjoyment from a game? I personally wouldn't do a no fast-travel playthrough because I got very little gaming time to begin with and am not gonna spend what little I get walking...but I see the appeal to exploring the world. Hell, most of us spent countless hours back in the day doing similar things in FFXI.

I like hearing how other people play games. At first I thought it was a goofy limitation for no fast travel, but hey whatever you wanna do to make the game 'harder.'
Then they said they like planning the journey out, is this worth my time, how much stuff do I need to unload before trekking all the way out there, etc. Sounds like a cool thing. Not for me, but still cool.

for the record i made it about 10 hours into the game before using my first fast travel, after covering the same part of land like 4x back and forth west of Whiterun. i think it's cool to see more of the world than i normally would but i'm not going to keep it turned off for times like those.

loving the game either way, of course

yeah, the game was designed with fast travel in mind so certain quests become a huge pain if you don't use it. most of the time it's viable though. I only use fast travel for really tedious shit.

also, I just realized that carriages can take you to cities you haven't been to before. this is after at least 50 hours of gameplay. I freaking gave up on Solitude (the one on the mountain, I think?) because I couldn't figure out how to get up there, lol. not that I tried very hard, but still. I guess that speaks to how goddamn huge this game is, because I certainly haven't been bored in the meantime.

are there any big game-changing things that happen depending on if you join the imperial army or the stormcloak faction? of course the story changes, i kind of mean like in fallout whether or not you blow up megaton decides where you will "live", etc.

Meh not really rez. As others have stated before, the whole civil war thing is more of a side quest. There are a few minor quests that it can affect but nothing even remotely close to the level of Megaton.

By the way, if anyone is interested in console shenanigans, player.setrace dragonrace is pretty hilarious. It doesn't quite WORK right, but it's funny. Also, setgs fjumpheightmin [x] --- I died when I landed when I set it to 5000, though.

So something as simple as this^ is enough to get you a warning in this thread, or am I missing something?

It is when a mod likes the game. The discussion for the past few pages has generally revolved around the numerous balancing issues with the game and how they affect its replayability, and apparently that violates the BRP rule. Who knows.

Skyrim is awesome, but it really could have been a lot more awesome for a lot longer. Once you figure out what's going on, the game's difficulty pretty much collapses even on Master mode and there's no way to turn back the clock and somehow stop yourself from learning about the game once you know how to beat it. Even trying to impose as many artificial limits on yourself as you can only does so much. Personally, I derive enjoyment from a game by actually trying to do my best and still being challenged by it. When I'm forcing myself to do significantly less than my best in order to feel some sort of challenge, it's not very satisfying to overcome.

Anyone seen any good content mods that may circumvent this? I can't imagine it would be too terribly difficult for more experienced TES modders to tweak the power of scaled enemies to represent a more tangible challenge, though I doubt they'll ever be able to fix the AI issues that plague dragons. I'm pretty sure Oblivion had at least a few revamp mods that changed enemy power scaling, so there's precedent for it. Honestly, most of us do like Skyrim as a game, it's just frustrating when you're essentially forced to play it with both feet chopped off and one hand tied behind your back in order to make it remotely engaging after level 40~

I meant a temp ban, but I was confused why it should warrant it regardless. Edited the original post for correctness.

His history in this thread has almost purely been negative. I gave him a warning sometime ago about it. The post that got him a slap on the wrist because he attacked someone simple for choosing to play without fast travel, it was uncalled for. We have a rule here on the forums, named after a long banned poster. If you're going into a thread just to shit it up by being negative and counter current to the purpose of the thread, that's a paddlin.
