Word on the street is the game is pretty bad.
No birthsigns, no levitation, no spellcrafting, lots of shit not there. Glad I didn't preorder.
Hoping for some solid reviews in time, in case it does suck i'll cancel my own pre-order and pirate it, because saint's row the third is looking like a safer option
Really? I'm having a lot of fun -- about 4 hours in.
I killed a mammoth today which I was totally outmatched against, but I must say it was quite thrilling (granted, I used my surroundings here and there).
I'm really digging the leveling system -- you increase magick, health, or stamina per level then get a perk, and you can put the perk into any field you want.
My only complaint is that the game gets laggy often. I don't know if it has to do with the fact that I'm playing a copy thats 1 week before release or what, but there are times when it's as though the game speed drops from 1x to like .1x-- still loving the game thus far though.
I would have also liked it if you could desynth loot -- would have made smithing a lot more fun. Alchemy is a pain in the ass thus far for me because I don't know shit, and being the packrat that I am, I am usually 75% carrying capacity before I go exploring, which is awful.
I understand Birthsigns were an big part of TES, but... are they really going to be missed?
I mean, you chose one according to the class you wanted to play and it was a boost to something or another.
No spellcrafting kind of sucks as does no levitation, but there's gonna be mods. I mean hell, part of the allure of TES games to me is how much they can change due to mods.
Birthsigns were a minor easily overlooked part of Oblivion, I won't miss them.
Levitation being gone? Whoop de doo.
Spellcrafting gone? Good, I can't break the game (as easily) now.
Lots of shit that wasn't there before, has been added. Shit will be epic, old shit missing won't be missed.
The way spells are constructed in skyrim arn't as simple as they were in oblivion
not just so puny fire ball animation with random effects
The real spells everyone misses is Mark and Recall.
I would like to point out that Birthsigns are still in the game to a lesser degree with those constellation stones thing that were shown in the demo. Those are what used to be birthsigns and you can only have one at a time and you can switch them if you find the stones. Seems like a better system than Birthsigns anyways.
No levitation is meh, but in Oblivion you could do anything you could have with Levitation with capped Acrobatics anyways so it's not a big deal. No spellcrafting makes me kind of sad but in Oblivion I just couldn't find a fucking use for it anyways. The only thing I used spellcrafting for was making skill-up spells. (Like summon skeleton for 1 second and it costed like 1 magicka to level Conjuration) So all it really means for me is actually having to use the shit I want to level up. lol
EDIT: The point is calling the game bad from just those things is a very stupid thing to say.
EDIT EDIT: I also imagine they can add spellcrafting into an expansion/DLC fairly easily after they've had some time to work with the new magic engine and see what people are doing with it.
To add to the above, a so-so Elder scrolls game is still miles above all of the shovelware crap out there. I still think this game is going to be amazing.
I really liked birthsigns in Oblivion but Skyrim is a different game. the whole leveling system seems designed to do away with Oblivion's tedious (yet rewarding, if you're OCD enough) min-maxing process and birthsigns were a huge part of that, so I doubt losing them will have a big impact on how much I enjoy the game.
Levitation will be in the game within a month or two max unless you are part of the inferior console gaming race. and it will break the game, and anyone who doesn't want to break the game won't use it anyway. it's a lot harder to design environments that work with Levitation than it is without it. like, exponentially harder.
I will miss spellmaking but as Tonko said, at least we won't be able to break the game so easily. and enchanting seems to have been beefed up to make up for that.
Looks like the pc version has been leaked....
Source?
inb4 he's talking about the same thing that was proven to be fake but just a couple days late.
@Yuri-G Except they pretty much ARE in the game still you just have to go find them first lol
Yeah, there's nothing on Bitgamer or Blackcats.
But dammit, it's not right to post something like that without a source!
