Is it different for PC? I know for 360, my one qualm is: A) menu stutters sometimes, and B) favorites is a huge help, but it'd have been nice to allow 1-button gear changes (like town gear to combat gear) somewhere in there, and my favorites build up way too fast, so it takes a while usually to switch around. My only way to cut down time in the favorites menu is to rename enchanted items closer in name to similarly used items.
Think it's just the same for PC as it is on consoles, oh and I'm not sure if its different for consoles, but on PC you can hotkey items as well as add them to favorites.
Just gotta open up favorites menu then select 1,2,3 etc on each item. Find it much quicker then using the favorites menu.
hoping third party mods fix alot of these issues. guess im forced to go buy a controller, because the mouse just doesnt seem to work well. Game is pretty as fuck though. wish my computer was stronger.
Only advice I have is turn off the controller in Game settings (in game), it lets you use the scroll wheel a little and sometimes you can click things with your mouse. Admittedly its pretty ass, but I've kind of gotten used to it already.
God damnit, you are sexy. Was pressing 123etc on the items menu thinking it would work like in Oblivion, didn't, then gave up.
All 360 wired controllers are plug and play. Windows will automatically install the drivers. Wireless controllers need a $15ish adapter then you can use them the same way. To the quoted person below who recommended Afterglow, don't, they are ass. I have an Afterglow controller, broke the left joystick after a month (it thinks I'm pressing down 24/7). I don't even misshandle my shit, it just broke. They really don't feel even close to the official controller's build quality imo.
If you alt+tab out of the game: when you are alt+tabbing back in, press it once to bring the game window into focus and then alt+tab back to the game again and it will come back out of that retarded state.
Game is great looking (pc) and my only gripe is the in menu controls so far. Going to try the hotkey thing after work.
I like how for one of my early quest i already had to study an item in the menu to find a clue as to what to do. The detail of the items in the menu is great and the fact there was a little puzzle along with it was nice.
How are you liking it? I was doing archery/sneak last night for a little bit (only got about an hour of gametime in) and was finding it difficult to keep people off of me. I didn't have any archery perks though. Is it slow to start out?
You are a gentleman and a scholar. I was hoping there was something like this in the game.
You can hotkey the xbox controller too, but only left d-pad and right d-pad. If magic is assigned to them, pressing left left or right right will equip both hands with the spell assigned to that direction.
Yeah its like a bad mix of requiring movement key commands and the mouse.
Can anyone on PC get the sleep/wait timer function to work? I can't seem to. When I set a certain amount of hours to sleep/wait hitting enter does nothing, and clicking on "yes" does nothing. Not sure what the deal is.
My problem with the hotkeys is that when I try to hotkey a bow or shield, the hotkey assignment disappears after I use it. e.g. I'm holding a sword and shield, I press my bow hotkey, now I'm holding a bow. I press my sword hotkey, now I'm holding a sword and shield again. But my bow hotkey doesn't work anymore. I have to reassign it. Same with shield, for going between shields and spells, for example.

I haven't had any problems using the mouse to navigate the menus. Are you guys on PC sure you have gamepad in the options off? I think by default it gets turned on.
From what i can tell reading some other peoples post i am guessing there is still a bit of randomness to loot from chest. I got a amulet for 12% better prices (sure why not!) whereas i think someone else got one for 30 more HP or something from what i think is the same chest.
I'm already bored of this game after about 2 hours. Thankful there are torrents! This is just like every other ES I've played.
My flame shield is ready.
look forward to hiding from my family in the basement all weekend to geek out on this, oi
My only major issue with the UI at this point is that I haven't found a way to choose which hand to equip things in from the favorites menu. Trying to switch between spells and weapons has been consistently awful.
These controls are frustrating as fuck. The game looks gorgeous but I have this sense of delay between what I do, and what I see. Its not tight at all, and its frustrating to the point of unplayable for me. I turned off the gamepad and increased the sensitivity to high, with no luck.
