Going to try out some of these; specifically vsync, mouseaccel (fucking why do they keep using this?), and maybe the graphics tweaks.
edit: fuck yes moving up in life

the link says to change the FoV setting under [General] in skyrim.ini but i think that's supposed to be skyrimprefs.ini?
I gave this game a quick play after picking it up late last night and I must say it's given me arguably the best first impression of any game I think I have ever played. Whoever said it was not just a rehash of Oblivion was dead on. Visually the game is night and day better than Oblivion (pretty obvious) but they also seemed to really listen to player feedback and got rid of idiotic persuasion wheel and lockpicking system, both of which I hated. Leveling up has also changed dramatically at least from what I've seen initially, really loving the FFX-style skill trees where you need to strategically unlock abilities and bonuses instead of just wasting time leveling certain skills (i.e. destruction as an orc warrior) to get attribute bonuses when you level up. Sorry if I'm re-hasing anything since I'm trying to avoid spoilers as much as I can but I figured I would give my take to help anyone that was on the fence like I was after not being amazed by Oblivion. Seriously, go buy it, not only has this game impressed me immensely from the start but you're supporting Bethesda which isn't a cash cow like EA or Activision and actually needs fans of their games to buy them so they can stay above water and continue to put out great games.
how many of you fags are wearing that faggy horn helm?
That's like all you get.
Literally seen like 4 types of helms so far: Leather, a normal metal one (looks like horn one without horns), a bucket/chain type helm, and then the one with horns. All of them at varying qualities but the ones with horns have consistently had the best stats for me.
Hoping to find a dwarven one to match the breastplate, dwarven armor always looked pretty cool but never went with heavy armor in previous games.
I'm going for the helm with horns, fuck yes. I have horns.
I keep getting crashes out to power save mode and have to restart my rig. I'm wondering if its a processor issue, because it can't be temps. Both my mobo and my card are running around 40 degress Celsius. I gotta figure it out soon, because this game is a lot of fun.
So a lot of NPCs I talk to tell me I look like shit, and ask if I'm sick. Why is that? I don't think I have a status ailment or anything. Does it mean I need to rest or what? Or is it just a standard NPC dialogue?
!! Thanks for the tip! Going to give it a whirl when I get on.
There is -- I think that's by design so that "no two playthroughs will be the same" (i.e. if ever a quest giver says "I've marked the place of interest on your map," that's some place that will change on your next playthrough).
Piss off wanker. That helm is beast...I was happy when I upgraded to a similar model that had a beefy chant on it too. Most of the other helms don't look all that nice, except for some special helms or the Steel Plate one. Dwarven looks nice, but way too clunky.
Okay, so I've actually put the disc into my PS3 and played until I reached Riverwood. The combat was nice, dual-wielding even nicer, introducing the frostbite spiders so early was nice. Combat was handled nicely. The story was shoved in my face, and I want to play more of it now. SO. All in all? Good game so far. GONNA KEEP PLAYIN' HARD.
Anyone know or heard of people on PC having issues from the get-go? I click on "New Game" and once I hit the loading screen.. it's torn to shit. The screen tears in every which direction. I've never had this issue with any games I've ever purchased (on my new computer, anyways). GFX 470 card, if that's any help. Driver's are up to date. :-/
