I have a ton of miscellaneous stuff that I'm not sure if I should sell or store in my chests full of potions.
Jewels (i.e. Amethyst, Garnet, Ruby, etc.), are they for anything besides Jewelry? If not I will probably sell them, I've got like 30 of each normal jewel type and a good amount of flawless (although I can't for the life of me find a second Flawless Sapphire, found one in the Inner Sanctum of the Dibella temple but that's the only one I've found, need one more for a quest)
I've also got about 95 dwarven ingots and a ton of steel/iron ingots. Are they used for anything besides heavy armor? I am a light armor character so I was thinking about just selling the ingots, especially since I can just buy most of the armor anyway...
Basically I have a lot of jewels, ingots, etc. and am wondering if I can get rid of them, they are taking up upwards of 300 inventory weight.
Anyone else using player.additem F ### to bypass the stupid shopkeepers waiting 2 days to restock? Way quicker to just keep a calculator open and keep track of how much gold I'm selling stuff for and then just add gold to my inventory than it is to find a bed to sleep for 2 days and come back and sell again at the merchant. It wouldn't be as bad if they hadn't removed the 'wait' function but now that you have to find a bed to bypass time it's pretty dumb to deal with that, it's a nuisance more than anything.
Uh... playing on PS3, and the Select button is the "wait" menu. It's still "t" on PC if the wiki isn't wrong. Or am I missing something in your problem? I haven't bothered using a bed yet; only used them for leveling up in Morrowind and Oblivion, and since you don't need them for that any more, it's all adventure, all the time.
They must have never mentioned the Wait function because I did not even know it was there and it isn't anywhere in the menus. Wonder what other buttons I'm missing, I only use WASDERZJMLI12345678CtrlAltTabEnter
Oh yeah, game connects quests together very well, almost too well actually. I have so many quests and way too many Miscellaneous quests, some of which have no map markers and very vague descriptions. Such as 'Find Svidi', the random fetch quests too, like 'Get 2 Flawless Sapphires' and 'Get 10 Fire Salts' I'm pretty sure these are randomly generated but it's kind of annoying for someone like me who likes to complete everything, having unfinished quests in the list really bugs me. Maybe I'm OCD.
10 fire salts/sapphires/mammoth tusk/deathbell-nirnroot-whatever the third thing is aren't randomly generated -- i've gotten them too. just keep a tally and don't keep the items in your inventory, you'll find them soon enough. i also found a flawless sapphire in random loot (Saarthal)
does this game worth?
Finally off the game, but only because I had to come to work this morning. I can't believe how fleshed out and believable the world is in this game. The textures might not be super amazing, but Bethesda sure can paint an awesome scene. Archery/Sneak combo is incredibly powerful and I'm constantly taking detours to explore various ruins/camps/caves/etc I run across on my way to a quest objective. I've barely done anything in the main quest and I'm having a fucking blast. There are bugs here and there. NPCs doing weird shit, textures go missing, unexpected crashes to the desktop, but this game is so fucking good you don't even care about that.
I spent probably 2 hours or so last night exploring some Dwarven ruins I found after I walked my ass all the way to Saarthal only to find out I didn't have a key I needed to finish a quest. The lowpoint of the night was paying 1000g for a horse only to scare it away shortly thereafter with a shout as I was defending my honor against a dragon. I had a blast this weekend and I can't wait to spend more time in Skyrim. GOTY.
I'm disappointed in how weak melee weapons are. I have a heavy armor Melee character with pimped out armor and weapons and I constantly get face rolled. Its as if my armor doesnt even matter in this game. And it takes 6-7 Power Swings to kill anything. I'm having more luck with my Sneak/Archer character now but it seems as though going as a mage is the best thing. Magic just fucking tears things apart and it drives me crazy.
I was feeling the same till I got a one handed weapon +13% enchanted item then disenchanted that bitch. Now I have that enchant on 2 pieces of my gear and I have 3 perks into my one handed damage bonus perk tree. Weapon damage jumped up real nice. I'm doing much better now. Also I put like 3ish levels in health in a row and got a amulet from a quest that gives me +30 health/stamina/magic. I like my set up much better now after all of that.
I'm sad that I like this game more than dark souls
I am having no problems with melee.. only real magic that does me in is when i meet up with a strong fire mage.
Have you tried upgrading whatever specialty for that weapon as much as you can?
I am currently 3/5 in one handed which is a 60% dmg boost.
Did a nice questline yesterday. Got drunk at a bar.. woke up in a church on the other side of the map. Had to trace my footsteps back and apparently did some no so heroic stuff.
Stick at the end has saved my life on more than one occasion though..
Has anyone else done the quest in Solitude that has you enter Pelagius' Wing? Made me want to revisit the Shivering Isles. There's also a quest in Markeath(?) with an abandoned house and a deadric prince I enjoyed.
My opinion is that a melee character needs to (A) choose a specialized weapon quickly (one handed-mace, for example) and (B) forget about dual-wielding, use a shield at all times against mages, and rush to "Elemental Protection" perk that will cost you a total of 3 perks minimum (left side of the block perk tree).
I was getting raped by storm/ice mages often, especially the former who would sometimes just one shot me to oblivion...my early remedy was to use Resist X potions, but now I just carry one as a backup at all times, and just put my shield up. Elemental protection is boss.
It also helps that I have +50% blocking from my amulet+shield (Necklace of Blocking + X shield of Eminent Blocking).
Regarding weapons -- weapons suck ass if you don't specialize. A dwarven greatsword might have 28 DMG overall on my character, but a dwarven sword would have a DMG rating of like 45-50 because of one-handed upgrades. And always make sure the weapon you're using has been improved through smithing--it makes a HUGE difference.
On smithing -- is there an upgrade rank past "Legendary?" I thought "Flawless" was where the buck would stop early on, but then I hit "Epic" and finally "Legendary."
I guess I should break out a shield/1hander just for charging mages. I'm doing 2hander+heavy armor and im getting blown the fuck up as I run at mages. Usually, I have to LoS them and then lure them to me, if they fall for it they get a axe to the head which usually kills them in 2-3 shots, but sometimes they dont fall for it and im shit out of luck.
the thing that gets me is how deadric armor is technically living armor and weapons >_> but they kick so much ass
Does Daedric armor have a "light" armor variant? I went up the left side of the smithing tree thinking that was where all the good light armor was, but apparently Daedric is better than Dragon Armor, even though it only requires 90 skill instead 100 which I think is a little bit ridiculous. I was considering grinding out smithing later tonight to turn some of these dragon scales into armor. Not like I know where to get hearts for the Daedric armor anyways though.![]()
