Some of you guys complaining about getting your ass handed to you fast might have your difficulty set too high. All that slider does is alter dmg dealt and received just like in oblivion, so if you feel like a masochist, go ahead and enjoy dealing 1/10th the dmg and taking 10x more dmg.

Ran into a random WoP dungeon and found some nord chick in fur skins that wanted to find some scroll in the bottom of the place. She used only lightning magic, would randomly say "This is fun!" and overall could really slap some shit. Big boss at the end spammed fire balls, so fire resist potion and went to town keeping its attention on me. Was kinda neat to just randomly get a sidekick for a dungeon.

Think legendary is last in upgrades. You can also re-upgrade items by having another ingot for the process. Found some gloves and a helm really early on with +25% and +20% archery dmg, so it's been bows ever since. Found some boots with muffled movement on them, so sneaking has been good. Random ring and gloves with smithing +17% and 20%, one handed weapons +25% on gloves, etc, game sure tosses enhancement crap at me. Really neglected magic; just been making/buying/using potions since I can't cast spells with a bow...

add: to the post above mine, The daedric equivalent would be glass (just look at the skill tree; it's directly to the left of dragon armor). Dragon armor has two variants you can make, light and heavy, since there's no weapons to make with it... Deadric is superior because it's a little more rare to come across deadra hearts while dragon parts rain from the sky.

add, the second: if you meant daedric light armor, no, it's never existed in the previous games either. Only heavy.

All skills at 100 = level cap. I think it puts you at level 81 with everything maxed, which means 80 perks you can take.

    Regarding DB & Thieves Guild:
    Spoiler: show
Does anyone else feel like they did a better job this time around? I know I'm only a few quests into each, but they both seem much more 'real' this time around. The thieves guild especially. In oblivion it was the whole we steal from jerks and the gov.! We're robin hood, yeah! But this seems much more in line with what I imagine a thieves guild would be. I loved it in oblivion, but i think this could turn out really well too.

The initiation into the DB was fucked up and I loved it. GF and I both decided to off the whiny nord because he stuck out like a sore thumb. (I realize there wasn't a 'right' answer) Really hope I get to kill this jester.

That abandoned house quest put this game in the FFVI/Tecmo Bowl strata. I have a feeling after 20 years I may have a new favorite. Staying WAY away from all spoilers and not looking anything up. Sometimes it takes me an hour to find something that is right under my nose. I feel like all the years I spent grinding in FFXI is finally paying off as I'm willing to spend an extra hour combing a cave to find a couple more treasures without feeling the least bit frustrated. What a game this is......

You only get 50 perks, so level 51? is the soft level cap.

Oh, I'm not sure if anyone else had the problem..but when set on fire I had a strange black blocky fire animation that would pretty much obstruct my entire view of anything going on. I think the computer I'm running it on uses a 5 series radeon gfx card. In the Catalyst control center I just had to turn off Catalyst AI to get it to go away.

Took a long time clearing out every cave/place I ran across and dragging every bit of junk I could find to a vendor, crafting potions, etc, but I was able to afford the house and furnishings in Solitude. Freaking three story house with your bedroom on the third floor. Has alchemy and enchanting tables, a couple mannequins, lot of storage spots, a good few places to hang up weapons, and having the housecarl there is cool. Found an odd book on one of the shelves that actually gave me a quest to investigate some place. I go there and actually wind up finding the guy it was about, quite dead. His journal continued the adventure (has three parts to it).

Oh, and you can tick your quests to give them markers on the world map (on pc, press e). For normal quests you tick the title on the left, for misc quests you need to tick the misc title and then tick the individual quests inside. You won't be losing track of people to talk to this way because they'll be marked. Also got about a dozen places marked on the map just by talk spamming guards. Usually caves, ruins, an old shipwreck, etc. Randomly got a letter asking to bring a bow I had just found to him (was an enchanted bow of lightning; 20pts of lightning dmg, it was really nice for my lvl). Far too much entertainment, and I've only visited two Holds.

Also, this guy just happened to fall over like this
    Spoiler: show

They sure have nice gear to sell... Insert yellow steam roller here.

Thats when you do the whole "player.additem 0000000f"99999"" for gold and just buy the house on the spot, like a boss.

Yea, I was so happy I found a flawless diamond and some other jewels hiding in a basket filled with cloth! Sometimes things do take a bit long but then the little details and beautiful vistas help make the monotony a positive experience. I need to learn to stop entering strongholds from the top though, I always end up forgetting something and needing to back track :/

Once you join the thieves guild Vex can tell you what it is and trigger the next part of the quest.

This game is so well done, when it's not bugging out or the Ai glitches, it's scary how immersive it gets. Shit if it weren't for the odd CTD, I would not have remembered to sleep.

That food in the game looks so good it makes me hungry robbing houses. Honey Nut Treat - Doesn't that just make your mouth water?

    Any advice for a 2handed heavy armor wielding orc when facing mages? They seem to just destroy me before I can close in on them, that goddamn frost spell they use cuts me down like 40% of my hp and strafing back and forth while closing in only prevents maybe 2 out of the 6 spells thrown at me. Running low on hp potions ;_;
First of all I'd take up Alchemy ASAP. having a steady source of cheap potions/poisons is a lifesaver, and every now and again you stumble on some very useful combinations. You can buff your resistance to magic overall PLUS resist frost via potions.

    Recipes:
    Spoiler: show
Purple Mountain Flower + Thistle = Resist Frost.
Lavender + Tundra cotton = Resist Magic

These are literally everywhere. Check towns and Temples for thistle and lavender, cotton is everywhere, all of these ingredients can be bought.

    So that's a start.

If the mages see you first take cover IMMEDIATELY. Get some landscape in the way. The only place you can survive is face-to-face, and that's with a liberal amount of buffs and healing potions.

For starters, you can't survive as a one-dimensional fighter. Take up a bow at the very least. You don't even need perks in it really, just the utility of having a good bow is key in these situations. Outsnipe the mage to weaken them a bit. This is a good time to take the chance to buff/prepare.

Your game plan is to close and beat the shit out of them with your hammer. Unfortunately, outside of... 8 feet, you are hopelessly out DPS'd. Use any terrain you can to your advantage to approach the mage, then begin the banzai charge in. Any spells you can dodge on the way in help you immensely over the course of the fight.

Once you're in melee range the goal is to stagger the opponent. Usually, this happens when you land a clean power attack. Mages tend to run after they recover, so try and back them into a corner or log or object. Paralyze poison is especially effective here.

If you're still in trouble, you need to re-evaluate the fight. Can you skip it? Can you sneak? Can you do more ranged damage before charging? Do you have any utility magic or potions, like armor, invisibility, poisons, or conjuration? Conjuring dead bodies make good spell fodder, as do the familiars and followers.

    Hope that helps

Thirded! I am amazed how much fun I am having grinding/crawling through both games. They are just fun it doesn't even enter my mind that I just spent 5 hours in two caves/farming humanity.

seconding this, having a steady supply of health pots is a godsend for melee. I'd recommend gritting your teeth and doing enchanting too. some of the enchants you can deck yourself out with are insane.
