hmm anyone ever do destroy the dark drotherhood quest? wanna know if the rewards there are better than carrying out all the assassinations.
or how about if i actually do join them, any major negative consequences from that?

Yes you can go over level 50 but the exp curve becomes steeper supposedly.
Am I the only one who thinks shouts are kind of stupid? I'm really enjoying the game on the whole but they feel so overemphasized. Maybe I just don't have the good ones yet. And on top of that I feel like I'd rather just be straightforward and hack stuff than switch spells and shouts constantly in the stupid favorites menu.
I have a shout that pushes shit- dumb. A shout that shoots fire- I have spells for that already. A shout that is supposed to distract stuff but doesn't work in a fight. And then the weakness and sprint shouts which are somewhat useful.
I like the level 3 of that knockback shout. Great for getting shit off my archer!
Unrelenting Shout rank 3 is pretty nice. I have Frost Breath rank 3 but no soul to upgrade it so I can't comment on how good that is. Level two is pretty good for shouting and getting them the hell away from me.
I've found the the Slow Time shout to be extremely useful in hairy fights. It gives you a bit of breathing room for potions, precise swinging/blocking/shooting, and all that fun stuff. Aura Whisper is also really nice for sneaking around, since I'm trying to do all of the different guild lines with my Heavy Armor/One-handed/Blocking/Smithing/Enchantment character, and sneaking is not something it does well.
Taking Smithing to 100 is a definite must unless you're a pure mage, though. You can do it pretty cheaply/easily by just spamming Iron Daggers, and the enhancements to weapons/armor are absolutely ridiculous. I'm level 35 at the moment rocking over 600 Armor rating with only 60~ish Heavy Armor skill.
Are there any other ways to get a solid supply of Daedra Hearts aside from that one guy in the Magic College? I have full legendary dragon armor and crap, but Daedric armor and weapons just look so damn cool. I've been trying to avoid using the console if at all possible (aside from the occasional tcl, fucking mountains piss me off sometimes), but if there's no good way to farm them I'll just drop some gold on the floor and spawn them.
There's a free one you can steal/take in the Companion hall lower quarters. If you finish their questline you can freely take it, otherwise have to steal it. Seems to respawn on a one month game timer like mines do. I pretty much got it plus the 2 at college, then mined the ebony I needed, and waited a month and repeated cycle for all my Daedric gear.
So I have the choice to either get Azura's Star, or a Black Star. Which should I pick? I find myself killing humans more, what with bandits and necromancers galor, but I have no idea if that might change.
so total newb question. Gonna start the game tomorrow. Do you have to stick to one main weapon discipline or can I be an archer/caster?
You can be anything and everything. Only problem is limited perk points and you'll level slower if you're switching between two different skills all the time. For instance instead of being a 100 archer, you'd only get to say 60 archer and 60 <magic school> by splitting. Shouldn't make the game impossible, but it'll be more difficult than going pure archer. Later on though you can catch up on anything you desire.
That shit STACKS? Holy fuck that is overpowered. Yes I find myself using that most on Dragons. Unrelenting Force for normal fights since I'm an archer.
I do tend to use the whisper shout to distract them after I get my first Sneak Attack in (Archery/Sneak main) so I can continue to get more sneak attacks, saves on arrows and it's fun.
38 hours into the game so far. Level 25. Bout halfway through the main storyline. Foresee me spending hundreds of hours on this game.
I apparently just married a guy, ended up with a restoration -10% ring, best part is I'm a male Dark Elf.
level 34 and still haven't fought a dragon yet lol, loving how many sidequests there are in this game. rather sidequest than do the main story
Is legendary dragon the best leather armor in the game? I don't want to bother with smithing if it's not.
Does the effect "Weapons and Armors can be improved by x%" stack with capped out Smithing when upgrading equipments? Also is there an Enchantment or piece of equpment that boosts enchanting? :D
I haven't seen an item, but I'm sure there's a Dragon Priest helm that enhances enchantments. Potions do, for sure (my 360 is rrod'd, or else I'd check to see the combination).
Don't know about capped out -- if you've hit 100, see if there's a tier past "Legendary." If there isn't, see if there's any difference if you put on an item with a smithing enchantment -- my hunch is that it won't make a difference because it will have already hit a cap, i.e. when I try to improve an Ebony Bow, it doesn't matter if I'm wearing my +20% smithing bracers, it'll hit legendary either way.
I've had equipments at Legendary that could be upgraded again while I was wearing a smithing item (But I was a few levels off from 100 Smithing so there's that possibility of this being wrong). Though the status Legendary didn't change the attack or armor rating did go up. I assume by the wording of that enchantment it means improving the stats and has nothing to do with tiers. Need someone to test this before I make my Smithing gear. :D
EDIT: Fuck it, I'll do it myself since I have 100 Smithing and Enchanting D: I'll just make a seperate save

Made a web frontend for the Alchemy Recipe Helper I wrote. Should be simple enough, basically you give it an Ingredient and by default it will find the recipes which discover X effects for the item. Obviously this only goes up to '4' effects since recipes which discover all 4 effects have served their purpose in discovering effects. However, you can also click 'Display all recipes' to see all the recipes for a given item and filter based on the number of effects the resulting potion will have.
Try it out, feel free to post/share it wherever, spent a good amount of time tonight getting it into a working state. If you have suggestions, comments or any feedback at all I'd love it just post it or PM if you think you might publicly humiliate me ;p
Ok the Smithing Effect does indeed stack beyond the 100 cap. The option to upgrade was greyed out without the gear on but with a total of 3 equipments with +25% on each one, the Daedric bow's attack (Which was upgraded to Legendary without any Smithing Enchants) went from 81 to 101 Damage.
Wearing only 1 of those Smithing gear only boost it up to 86 and with 2 gears to 96.
Didn't try with 4 gears since I lacked an additional Grand Soul gem at the moment. Guessing 4 gears with the effect is max unless the final Enchanting Perk allows for even more shits and giggles. I'd imagine this will get more ridiculous if boosting enchantment also gives a bigger number than 25%
Anyways feel free to get mathy on how the % stack since I'm too lazy.
EDIT: Nope the last Enchanting Perk doesn't allow you to put 2 of the same effect on the same equipment
EDIT#2: Oh yeah Character was at Lv40 since I believe the attack and armor values changes as you level correct me if I'm wrong. PS. Game is already too easy without all dis D;
Well shit I need to level Smithing now because I'm level 25 and still running around using a Supple Ancient Nord Bow and Scale Armor. >_>
