Completely agree about conjuration. It has a lot of good uses for a melee character. Another nice thing about it is how good the bound weapons are earlier on if you aren't abusing how easy it is to level smithing. They've been consistently higher damage than anything that I've found or been given normally to level 17, with +1/+2 smithing buffs. And if you want to spend 3 perk points in Conjuration, you can get an inventory free soul trap weapon for the rest of the game.
It's also nice how you get both conjuration and skill for your weapon type while using the bound weapons.
the later conjuration dremora lord is also a great unit, can take a punch and deals huge damage, only issues are sometimes he gets very block happy, if he just spammed normal strikes he'd never die, and you can eventually summon 2 of them, just a shame the perma versions of the atronach's are so unuseful.
Earlier in the game, if you wanna take on giants Flame (and later Storm) work really well, since often when a giant closes, they will leap backwards to avoid the incoming one shot kill, very fun to take giants down like this, especially before you can steam roll them.
And a third edit, conjuration level's really fast from 75-100, apparently dremora lord's just give huge exp, i wasn't doing anything dodgy just running around having my dremora lord smash anything i could find, including mammoths and giants, his weakness show's here though because he loves to try and block the giants, rather than taking them out before they even get a swing off.
a few questions: where's a good place to get daedra hearts?
what kind of armor do you guys use for your warrior companions? i was thinking of giving mine dragon or daedric armor, but i dunno if it's overkill. whatever i do HP+ would be best, right?
anyone get namira's ring yet? particularly useful?
A good place to get daedra hearts is at the mages' college. A guy called Enthir sells 2 of them and refreshes his stock after a few days.
FYI there is a certain point where they stop selling you shit. they will start selling shit again if you advance the questline. not sure if that's your problem or not but thought I'd put that out there just in case. specifically,Spoiler: show
also, not everyone there sells spells by the seash... err, sells tomes. none of the junior members do; only the senior members and only one for each school.
Dayumn, I just watched a blood dragon crash into the ground like a boeing 747. Left a massive trail of destruction. Pretty cool, didn't know they did that.
So I saw a video of a guy using the cheat to add all spells and he had Flames for each rank of destruction, e.g. Flames-Novice up to Flames-Master, is this just in the game but not buyable? I like the continuous cast spells but they are much weaker now.
I'll have to look around for those Mage guild senior members I guess. Sometimes I end up just trying to steal shit and forgetting to talk to people. Kind of a clepto.
I HATE paying more than 50% for a pc game ever since I started using steam, but reading this thread is making me want to play like crazy.
A while back, I did some quests for the Jarl of Markarth and he offered to give me the title of Thane, but only if I owned property in Markarth. His little assistant guy showed me the price (8,000) and at the time I said fuck that, maybe later because I was broke. Now it's later and I can afford it (and I want to clear that stupid quest from my journal) but now the only thing that I can say to his assistant is "is there any work for me?" The Jarl himself only talks about lore. Am I hosed?
I've searched google and failed. But I have a problem with NPCs speaking. If I look straight at them, I hear them fine. If I turn away even a bit they sound really far off. I've lowered my sound settings and that didn't fix it. Any help?
Looking away from people while they're talking to you is impolite.
This is probably intentional, so that you're not bombarded with flavor text all the time while running through cities. If you're not actually paying attention to someone, they'll be set to a lower volume.
@Maguspk, those are probably NPC spells I'd bet. Master Fire Mages and such definitely have way stronger Flames than I do.
Doing the Destruction Master Spell quest atm, and ran into a Frost Dragon in my travels. Ok, nbd I've killed these before, they're cake. Start casting, the things breath drops me down a quarter hp...and then the thing uses a finishing move, biting me in half. 65% HP > Dead. What. The. Fuck.
I seriously LOVE this game.
Gotta say I'm rather enjoying the game. I've never played an Elder Scrolls so it's def. a new experience. Joined the Imperial Side... gotta love my fake "Romans"
I think maybe I'm short changing myself by having not done any of the main quest line. People talk about running intro dragons but I am guessing they only show up once you at least kill the first dragon in Whiterun? My dragon in Whiterun is frozen in the sky at the West Watchtower and I have not finished the quest to kill it.
Do dragons only show up once you've done enough of the main quest?
yeah I am wondering that too. I did kill the Whiterun dragon but I still haven't had any random dragon encounters. wondering if I'm just (un)lucky or I need to go further to activate dragon encounters.
also, the phrase "activate dragon encounters" makes me feel like a really big nerd.
You have to kill at least that 1st one for the random dragons to start. I would suggest doing it, and the quest afterwards to upgrade your 1st shout.
(Or odin may be right.. not sure!)
Just killing the first dragon during the main quest was enough for random encounters to start popping up for me.
