Trouble with FFXI lag on new pc.

So I went from a 5 year old pc to a new one (specs below), my old pc ran the game great on 1280x1024 with background pushed to 2560x2048. I've tried to ff on my new pc at 1920x1080 with background set at 3840x2160 and the game was really stiff when i would try to do things like bring up my macro sets, go through menu's, and even when i would try to log out. That was all just in town. I made an attempt at exping and it was just really not working well. I tried switching the res to 1280x1024 with background 2560x2048 like on my old pc but the lag was basically the same. I recently even attempted 1680x900 (with 3360x1800) and still nothing. It's really becoming unplayable, which is hard to understand considering the major upgrade with my system.

    Old:
    Nvidia geforce 6800
    2gigs ddr2
    intel pentium d 2.8ghz
(and loads of spyware and viruses)

    new:
Evega geforce gtx 470 (factory superclocked)
    6gigs ddr3
    intel i7 930 2.8 ghz
    (clean system)

Any help at all would be wonderful, and if any additional info is needed I would be more than happy to provide it.

    Thanks.

Apparently from what i've read around these parts, is the drivers for the newer series of nvidia cards hates FFXI. The only solution is to regret that you didn't get an ATI instead. Someone can chime in if i'm mistaken or have any better info.

Indeed it's the Nvidia fault :<

Though apparently they finally fixed some problems in the new drivers that are supposed to be released soon.

Hmm thanks for the news. I guess I'll have to use my old pc for now (yuck).

Upgrade your drives, the issue with FFXI was fixed recently.

    Really?

A long long time ago I ran the game on a 8800GT and it ran great. Well, as great as FFXI could ever run with it's uber 29FPS cap.

We'll I'm running it on 8800GTS atm and, while the card is dying so it could be partly a reason, the newest drivers still get the slow downs on things like songs or fire effects etc.. I know there are some old drivers that can run it better, but that defeats the point if I want to play other stuff too
