    Exactly. If you're in an area with Grade 1 trees you won't find Grade 2 or higher in the same area. Once you change area (not zone) you get a different grade or none at all.
    I didn't notice the loot change in nodes but it's good anyway. Less missed shots because I'm not lucky enough to hit the item on the first swing out of two.
    They do need to make gathering a bit less random imo but for now it works.

    The first few times you gather post-update are very, VERY frustrating. It does feel like everything was changed and broken. However, I'm starting to make sense of how it works, and all hope is not lost. It is unfortunate that you can't use alternate tier abilities to get a free quick (when more than one grade level is in a zone). It was great while it lasted, and I was very annoyed it is gone, but oh well.

    As for the drops tables, they are completely different as well, but I'm starting to see hope that we can still figure out the pattern. Same with the hints. They can seem more frustrating than should be until you start to understand how they work. Gathering for a specific item is harder now, much harder. Junk items are in the loot pools even at grade 5, but hopefully with the hints, etc it will be possible to still get, in general, the good stuff. Hopefully this will reward players who figure out the system. I can see the prices of ores going up as things that are in high demand in bulk (iron ore, silver, etc) won't be as plentiful.

    It's very easy to rage at the new system at first. I did. Had a good night sleep, approached it with a positive attitude, and I'm now cautiously optimistic there's still a chance at this all being pretty decent.

    Do the abilities still share the same timer? I can see how it might be annoying, but it might be better for zones where two grades overlap (if that happens).

    Logged in, checked the new UI speed (30-40 percent improvement, i'd say, which is fucking great)..
    Did a few synths....looked around emerald moss, killed a couple mobs on my Archer.... went to the market wards.... and then logged out. I just don't think it's a UI problem, at least for me personally, I just hate that each city feels so lifeless.... I would pay another 70$ if they updated 11's graphics with 14's though....i'd be sold in a heart beat.

    Target selection being based on the direction my character is facing, and not the direction my camera is facing is SERIOUSLY FUCKING ME UP. And the new priority just sucks imo.

    [edit] Left/right is automatically starting with the closest target in the direction my character is facing. So if I have 400 people on my left, and one person on my right... I can't just hit 'right' to target that one person ala XI if he isnt the closest target. It will target the closest person, and if that closest person is on the FAR left.. it will start with him and I'll have to scroll 400 times to get to the guy I need. Or have the presence of mind to realize there it nobody else on the left and hit right->left to get to the target on my right. Ass.

    [edit2] Priority works better if you have yourself targeted first. It will correctly cycle as you'd expect if you start with yourself, but still in the direction your character is facing rather than your camera direction.

    Possibly stupid question...

    Is there someway to change tabs in menus when using a controller? By that I mean like changing to the Bazaar tab while in the inventory window. Previously, I could just hit the cancel button to deselect the item list and "go up a level" to change tabs. Now, pressing cancel just closes the window entirely.

    The "quick" abilities like "Triangulate" weren't changed, they still work as before and still share the same recast. The only abilities they changed are those that simply tell you how far a node is.

    The DoL abilities that were changed now mention if the gathering point in question is almost exhausted as well as mention the direction of a node even when it's more than 400 yalms away.

    as far as I can remember they did it for FFXI when they lowered the EXP needed to go from level <I forgot> to level 75 after some people whined that it was too hard to get to level 75. I don't see why they couldn't do the same here.

    No, they never "refunded" any exp. If you were @100 to Lv.74, you got bumped up to @1, but nothing more. It wouldn't bump you into the next level, just 1 exp from it even if the TNL dropped by 20,000.

    They did different here. They did bump people into the next rank if you were close enough, you just had to go earn at least 1 skill from something for it to register.

    A player at rank 17 with 13,000 skill points prior to the version update.
    As the amount of skill points required to attain rank 18 has been lowered from 15,000 to 12,000, this player will immediately attain rank 18 the next time skill points are earned, and will also retain the surplus 1,000 skill points.
    Asking to be "refunded" for your decision to grind away is lol...

    It finally looks like they are adding some equipment that are focused on a single classes. Although the stats and favored classes don't make it specifically JSE or anything, the aesthetic is definitely there.

    Cracked/Vintage Shepherd's Belt (off-white belt with pouch, sack, and bottle)
    Frayed/Vintage Chef's Belt (leather belt with ladel, knife holder, and salt&pepper shakers) note: only crafting belt (ALC/CUL) with Magic Craftsmanship

    I'm pretty sure they only added the three types of diremites (and possibly white piestes/puddings... anyone spot those?). I think December was deemed the NM update.
