How the hell do you figure that exactly?
How the hell do you figure that exactly?
In the grand scheme of things it is. The fact that Julian Assange's arrest - even though it were written of due to lack of evidence and shady story once before - did, is strange. No other rape case, even in the case of a suspected serial rapist, has lead to an international arrest order.
If you read the details of what the women are alleging and their communication between each other it's pretty much going to get laughed out of court.
The arrest warrant isn't for a trial or anything it's so they can interview him - something he already volunteered to do.
Now, the other diplomat cables were somewhat interesting and probably not that big of a deal, but this is really crossing the line from wanting government transparency to being irresponsible and criminal.

What's criminal about it?
How the fuck is any of that even -secret-? Fuck, it's kind of a "no shit" deal. It probably only takes some basic logic and Google to figure out what's particularly vital to commerce and such (excluding something obscure).
Major waterway for shipping/transport of materials? Target. Come on now. It's not like it's something the fucking Somali pirates haven't figured out already.
And I really don't see any criminality in any of this, still.
Agreed, that's going too far.
If the lock on your front door broke, would you want someone to stand on your roof with a bullhorn and tell people about it while you're out buying a replacement?
Obviously well funded and organized terrorist groups can find out most of the weaknesses, but releasing that kind of information makes some of the less obvious ones prime targets for anyone with a internet connection and a grudge against the government.
I can see how that leak might adversely affect US interests. Of course the idea that this information was a very important secret or that this will lead to deaths is pure exaggeration.
It seems that people like athas want to keep insisting, after every leak, that someone is going to die, until, some day, it happens, and they think they will be vindicated. It does not matter that the same thing was said for the previous leaks and nothing serious happened. They will just keep insisting on the same damn point and be wrong on the principles again and again and again.
I know I'm pretty slow to be jumping on the wikileaks bandwagon now. But I was confused as to why when I Google wiki leaks that the first link doesn't work (wikileaks.org). Was there website shut down by the US government and forced to move? Or do I just have the wrong URL?
Yeah but they have over 9000 servers spread out all over the world now in retaliation.
