Post-Patch SP findings

I don't get why people are in such a hurry to level. It reminds me of WoW where everything felt like a race to the level cap. I don't mind grinding, grouping or questing as long as what I'm doing is interesting and fun. Quests with story and such or classes that are fun to play with other classes a la FFXI. I thought the system in FFXI was pretty good as far as grouping went (after the group was organized and in place at a camp).

Man I forgot about the Rank 20+ drop in SP. I was careful about this as I dinged 20 ARC. I was in a leve with no favor. My SP went from 137 to 62. So sad

I hear you. I was having so much fun killing and leveling other jobs that as soon as I went back to conjurer to do some leves, the SP dropped like a rock. It's very disheartening to get so little SP when the TNL is so high. How does SE expect casual people to level using this system (and I would really love having a system like this - 8 leves a so every 36 hours should at least get you one rank level from 20-40, then maybe 2+ cycles for ranks 40-50). As it stands now, unless the leve has 8+ mobs or offers some class points, there's almost no point in doing them ><

It's not that people are in so much of a rush to level.. It's just that grinding IS pretty unbalanced at higher levels. Even in leves, I wish I got the same SP as my Rank 10 class for soloing a red as on my 34; 900 vs 203 and much harder.

Personally, my only desire for R50 is so i can get back to leveling other classes. NMs will be here soon, but i just want to get a few things leveled before we have too much content and then i won't feel like doing it as fast.

From what I hear, grouping past rank 20 can achieve quite similar SP as soloing/duoing pre-20?

Unfortunately every time I go on no one is looking for parties and no one accepts when I try to build one

Behests usually do the trick, but it can be different on the higher levels ofc.

Also need people to get used to the new system.

Have 3 people link the same leve and enjoy your 900/mob. S'the reason for the drop, they expect you to be grouping past 20.

Do you have to kill more mobs in rank 30+ leves?

That alone should make a difference over the 5-8 mobs needed to kill at rank 10.

It never really gets to be many more targets than the lower leves, except for Necrologos that don't want to drop their pages. Sheep @ Nophica, Gnats @ Cedarwood, etc. You'll learn to love them.

Behests on the other hand can have upwards of 40-50 mobs if you got a full crew signed up.

Yeah, I think thats like one of the few times where I'm praying that I don't get the item drop so I can keep getting SP till I'm low on time. lol

That is pretty odd. I wonder why they're so afraid of making us kill lots of mobs. It should work quite nicely that lower ranks you kill few mobs for a ton of SP and higher ranks lots of mobs for less SP.

Just did a R20 leve on my R10 Pug because I wanted the marks, 1 star just to bang it out with a R20 friend. Link and Aspect, and I still got 650SP/mob despite being out of boost range. If I were in boost range... looking at nearly 1000/mob if earlier math is correct.

Point being: Has anybody tried a full party at R10 with a bunch of links+aspects? If theres no cap, looking at an easy 2500/mob.. o.O

5 star R10 leves work too for high SP at this rank, got 500-1100 today for couple leves, but i was solo (rank10-11).

~10-person party between R28 and R36 doing a behest at Camp Broken Water resulted in about ~80 skill per mob for R36 members with about 25 mobs in the behest, some of which were claimed by a separate group.

With that same group, doing R40 2-star leves resulted in about ~100-150 skill per mob for R36 members without favor, ~200-250 with favor, depending on the type and number of mobs in the leve.

Discounting organizational downtime, members under ideal conditions (always using favor and getting bonus from the entire party) made about 10-12k in the first hour. It dropped substantially lower as members began leaving the party out of disgust or for other reasons.

No one in the party actually had fun.

There are endurance leves mostly in Ul'dah, one in particular, R40 Necrologos: Ranine Reveries. You can get great SP from the puk found in groups of three. Me and a friend link and set the difficulty as high as we can handle and fail it in the end in case the next cycle doesn't supply it. @R47PGL and R50 CON friend linking and applying favor gives 270SP per puk. In the end I usually get 8-10k in that leve alone.

This isn't really explaining rates to figure out this new busted system, but more of a suggestion for everyone in the road block ranks trying to gain as much SP as possible!
