    Concerned About After December Update

My Linkshell is currently progressing at a decent pace, and hopefully we will be ready to take on 75% of the NM's released at the December update.

My concern is about loot drops. Unfortunately, there is no loot master or common loot pool. So what happens when the loot drops? There was some level of control in XI, my concern is that there will be a misunderstand or someone who doesn't know what to do when it goes into their loot pool. This concern is only viable if the drops are EX.

Loot pool problem, what would be a good way to determine who gets what gear drops lets say for example: 2 people have it down on their list, they have the same amount of DKP, they have the same % of attendance... and we have no /random function?

    This is my main concern.

I think most, if not all drops, will require crafting. If that is the case, there will be larger issues... trading it to be crafted, etc. However, I would have to think that SE will implement some sort of lotting system alongside The NM update.

It randomly goes into a person 'personal loot pool'. Your chat log will say "XXX item enters YYY persons loot pool" or something similar.

Discuss who gets what with your linkshell members and have them all vote who gets it. This way, a person that goes 'above and beyond' and helps out members with non-NM events such as missions, doing favors, mentoring the new recruits will get rewarded vs. the person who just 'shows up for endgame' and leaves when its done.

Considering we hardly know anything about the NMs at this point besides appearance, I wouldn't worry about it yet. For all we know, it won't even be high level content, just NMs for lower levels with high end mobs not even implemented yet. As far as end game goes, I wouldn't expect any kind of dungeons or content well into next year, most likely around ps3 release, as they have barely fixed bugs at this point.

This is a legitimate concern of mine as well. May have to do a manual pick a number between 1-100 system XD!

I wouldn't worry about it, I'm sure they will have a loot system in place for the update as well. Even they are not that dumb to make drops of importance from NMs just go to a random person in the group.

No more ninja-looting with the current system.

If something drops, it's yours, but you might give it away if you don't need it.

If endgame doesn't split again between long, boring farming runs and short boss runs, more attendance = more chance for getting a drop.

    DKP {Thanks for the offer, but I'll have to pass.}

Just accept the randomness and get over with it. Once it ends up in someone's pool you can't and shouldn't complain about it. If you don't like the idea of someone getting a drop just don't invite them to your events.

I bet there will be lots of talking about DKP and that sort of shit but in the end accepting the random distribution system will be the most practical thing. If you don't like it then FFXIV isn't the game for you.
I do look forward to a conspicuous amount of drama topics on these forums though, because this system is just begging for those to appear very often.

Or instead of it being random, it will be a leve system... and whoever initiates the leve gets the loot. Makes sense, and seems to fit with their current casual or die approach.

(In regards to ground NMs & Drops)

Assuming Unique/Exclusive will go to your personal pool & won't bind to you immediately. At that point, you will just choose "Distribute" to give it to another member.
DKP could still be used, but the Company/LS leader would have to put faith in everyone who attends whatever event to distribute to the person on the top of the point list.
(Unless they plan on adding Company Loot list/inventory?)

You can just imagine the drama now. Either deal with DKP or let the individual choose who they want to give it to (hope they add /random). All still assuming loot remains to be handled in this manner.

Hasn't SE spent the last 3 months trying to convince people that this is no longer their operating motto?

People didn't like the SP system. They changed it. No more "game isn't for you".
People don't like the UI when using keyboard/mouse. They're changing it. No more "game isn't for you".

I could go on. You have no idea how they're going to handle it, and you certainly have no idea if they'd eventually change it if faced with negative feedback.

If the NM is leve-based, and the reward is a randomly assigned item (items from just this leve), then have everyone participating take the leve, and they can all link-up when it is activated. Allowing everyone to complete the leve and receive the reward. Put a week long cool down (resets once per week) on the specific leve, and ta da.

Make the gear rare/ex. Crafting materials won't be a problem (for inflation) because some will be lost to synth failures I am sure.

Yea, there doesn't seem to be much of an issue with Leve-based NMs, seems simple enough.

I think you're jumping the gun a bit assuming there will be "end game" NMs in December. I'm expecting more Leaping Lizzy NMs.

If the December update implements any sort of one-week cooldown on desperately needed content, I'll be the first person to peace-out.

Because we should get to farm NMs like we do nannies.

    Edit:

NMs are hardly content, btw. Oh boy 5-10 named mobs with respawn timers of some sort.

Corsair emote would settle this score.

I could be mistaken, but isn't the addition of a 'loot' option to the main menu also one of the proposed updates in December?

That alone quelled my fears. It probably won't be fully functional, and it will undoubtedly need a number of fixes, but I think that the OP's main concern that they have no plans for loot management is covered.

Edit: is it just me or is Lucavi becoming more 'new SE'-friendly with each announcement by the dev team? If so, it's nice to see that their attempts are starting to have some effect, even on those jaded from the 'old-SE' antics.

The Loot command does appear in the main menu now. Only when there's loot in your loot pool, however. It appears up top, by the interactions (!) command.
