Talk to Progressive about going after the driver anyway. If they get any of their loss back in a settlement or judgment you are entitled to the comparable portion of your deductible back. If they get say 40% of their costs back, you get 40% of your premium back. Plus their lawyers do this for a living and you don't have to pay anything for their services if they do go after her. Wouldn't be fast if they do but maybe in a year or two you'll have a surprise check in the mail for a few hundred bucks.

Officer just called me back. The vehicle was uninsured, expired on May 5. The registered owner wasn't the driver. The driver has a warrant out for his arrest. The registered owner is being charged with failure to maintain insurance and some other charge regarding knowingly letting another motorist operate an uninsured vehicle.

I don't really care about any of that shit, she didn't have insurance, and now I'm sad.
