Depends what kind of gel and what you do with it. I do not hate agarose minigels and smaller gels or phastgels (premade SDS-PAGE gels) and that's basically all we use.
They're easy to set-up, and the only reason to hate a gel that you just need to see results on is when you're not going to get results or when you're waiting on the results to do something else.
Blotting will make you hate gels with a passion because after you run them, you gotta blot. I do not blot. I do not hate gels.

I've only done Agarose gels thus far and all of the ones I've done, the results were needed before moving on iirc. I just view them as being annoying because having to wait 2 hours, then not getting the right results and then doing it again seems mighty annoying.

I think the best thing i've ever done is provoke abandon to the point of creating Finesse's location.
