Yeah I've never gotten an email before but supposedly other have. I just logged in the other day and to my surprise it had my usage listed, I wasnt even aware of a cap.

My only problem with getting ATT is that my friends in the area have it and its so inconsistent, lightning fast one month then creeping the next month. With work and of course xbox live I would like to have a steady connection speed, so I dont want to get into ATT and love it the first month then after my 30 day guarantee is out get shafted being stuck in their 2yr agreement.

2 year agreement? I didn't sign any contract. You must mean their cell plan.

It comes down to the need for the FCC to start policing ISPs and taking a firm stance against shit that so blatantly violates Net Neutrality like this. ISPs have a right to charge fair prices for the bandwidth they provide and I think they should have some power against the hosting of illegal materials on domains they own, but it should end there. They have no right no impose bandwidth caps or try to tell people what or how much bandwidth their paying customers consume. I really hope Comcast gets the old school AT&T treatment and gets broken up into a bunch of smaller companies.

I disagree. I think ISPs have every right to impose bandwidth caps, and charge by the gigabyte. However, the last-mile connections must be heavily regulated since it was essentially bought and paid for by public money, and it's despicable that privately owned companies now get to demand ransom for the use of it.

If nothing else, I think that the controller of the last-mile connections should be barred from entering into the commercial ISP market, as a result of their inherently advantaged position.

Screw Comcast.. They've been pulling this same shit with Direct TV over the past two years where they cry about their carrier rates going up on shitty channels like Versus and CSN. Imagine what damage they'll do to the television market if the merger with NBC Universal goes through!

That's fine, but if my bandwidth is capped then the trade off is I better have 100% of my promised bandwidth 100% of the time and accurate ways to monitor it. If we're going to be fair an ISP should be required to provide either quantity or quality, not half-assing both.

Comcast is all we have out here, and I laughed at the "move if you have nothing else other than comcast" comment. FIOS is great for the .03% of the nation that it covers, but for the rest of us...

Eh disliking Comcast's business practices doesn't mean their product is shitty by default. I get 33/5-6~ for $65/month with little to no interruption on a monthly basis and the only service issues I've had in the 6-7 years I've been using them were due to faulty physical co-ax wiring that was just ready to be replaced.

Well this news concerns me, having just signed up for the free trial of Netflix. Haven't tried watching from my pc yet, but I did notice while watching on Xbox that a few times I got a message saying "your connection has slowed and we are adjusting the stream to reflect that so your service isn't interrupted."

That was very well likely on Netflix's end. When we had to change from disc to stand-alone app on the PS3 we couldn't connect to Netflix for 2 weeks, and their costumer service told us that it was our router despite Netflix working fine on both a 360 and a PC attached to the same router. I found a ton of similar reports online.

Remember when practically everyone who had Comcast and played FFXI would get disconnected every 5 minutes because the service sucks? I do!

I do, and I always laughed because it never happened to me, lol. I also never had any problems using the XIV updater during beta, idk the inner workings of the crap really but it never affected me.

I never had this issue either, in fact my connection on 11 was usually the most stable out of all my friends that played, I only had issues initially doing the update after 11 went live on the PC and you had like a 2k file patch to download after installing the game, but I blamed that on game server traffic and not Comcast.

Level 3 already paid Comcast the charges so that service isn't disrupted but they're making a lot of noise so people know what is going on behind the scenes. Ars has a really good article about the whole situation.
