Moved router: Shit hit the roof.

Okay so we just got done renovating our house and we moved the router from the guest bedroom to the garage which will be my new office.

The garage was on a separate line so I rewired the lines in the garage to the main phone line.

After hooking up the router everything seemed to work fine. However, an issue has revealed itself unfortunately. Every so often I will disconnect for about 20-30seconds. If the phone rings, I disconnect (manageable since the phone rings once a day at most).

After resetting the modem and reconfiguring the connection I can't seem to fix this. Upon further investigation on the "Activity" section when you double click the connection on your task bar, I see that my Received bytes are 140,000,000 whereas my sent sits down around 4,000,000.

    Connection Speed:
    • Incoming: 3552 kbps
    • Outgoing: 384 kbps

Assuming the overload of incoming traffic is causing a timeout but I am unsure why there's so much incoming (or if it's suppose to be that high)

DSL connection, 2wire HG-2701B router. No one else is connected wirelessly or cabled.

Did you check phone plugs for transistor and shits? Is the new line "longer"? Worst case put ig somewhere else and run a long Ethernet cable to your office

If you have a wireless phone that operates on the 2.4 GHz frequency it could easily interfere with your wireless signal. Try changing the channel your wireless operates on (usually 6 by default) to 1/2 or 10/11 and see if it helps the signal.

I'm assume you mean modem/router combo, since you are plugging it into a phone line. make sure everything is still filtered. what Ceph said is likely the problem though.
