    Classy Restaurant In/Near Boston, MA?

I tried looking everywhere, even a google search, maybe I'm just retarded, but I can't find anything. That's if it's even there.

But anyways, my friends and I wanted to try going out to a really classy restaurant. I'm talking really, really nice. Dress code and everything. Price isn't an issue. We want to experience what it is like to be in a nice quiet room, have some dinner and a few drinks and just get together.

I live in NH, so I was hoping it would be somewhere around here, and my best bet was thinking that Boston would have at least a couple to choose from. I'm not from the Boston area, nor have I like, EVER been there. I have a GPS so it's no biggy.

TLDR Extremely fancy restaurants near Boston area possibly, what are they, and possible web site?

Tons....what kind of food are you looking for?

    For Italian, there is....

Via matta near the park plaza hotel.

Magianos also near the park plaza hotel.

If you head upto the north end, can try streggars near the TD garden.

Highly recommend via matta, but you need to call a day or two in advanced because it gets very busy on weekends.

i've lived in Quincy (next door to Boston) for 30 years and sadly i can't even really recommend a place. i'm not saying there aren't great places, there are dozens, "a night out on the town" isn't my expertise though. i'm better off in a shitty bar with buffalo wings. however, people really like:

Grill23 - http://www.grill23.com - not sure if this is as "high class" as you're looking for

KO Prime - http://www.koprimeboston.com - people have been hyping this place up a bit

really before i just list off places there's too many to, i guess decide on exactly what kind of food you want and search that way. the north end alone probably has 50 great places, or even more. actually the gf & i are trying to decide on a place in the north end for saturday night and even that is overwhelming. good luck and have fun though. if you like italian focus on the north end.

good call Sath, top of the hub might be exactly what they are looking for. not my thing but for a place to get all dressed up and see what you are usually missing that sounds like the spot.

http://www.visit-massachusetts.com/boston.html - Look under "Where to Eat - Dining & Restaurants", Fine Dining category I suppose.

BTW this website (and its parent visitnewengland.com) are pretty decent for travel/tourism in general.

It's where I proposed to my wife as well, so I have good experiences there haha. It's good food + extremely elegant if you sit in the dining area.

Smith & Wollensky is also a decent place for a steakhouse, and it's also in a castle! I went there with my wife for my 30th birthday and spent 250 just between the 2 of us.

On a busy Saturday night, they usually do enforce a slight dress code because they get all the individuals that got tired of waiting at via matta(which is next door)

To stay on topic, dolce vita on Hanover street is good.

Sel de la terre is also a good choice. It's French food, on state street.

Your best bet is like others said, goto Hanover street in the north end and have your pick.

Make sure you try white truffles now, as they are almost towards the end of the season.

And don't forget to pair every dish with decent french vintage.

Like a nice krug with your aperitif, a good year pauillac with mains, port with cheese, cognac etc..

First season black truffles starting end of the month though (not as aromatic and tasty).

And of course, foie gras foie gras and more foie gras!

It was an amazing find while my girl and I were in the area that day. The Mac and Cheese was stunning.

The fancy restaurant in the MFA is a good choice. Not the regular cafeteria one, there is a separate expensive, actual restaurant on the top floor!

I've had foie gras years back when I went to a really nice dinner with my family, it was fucking amazing. I heard it is banned in a lot of places, force feeding etc. Might be banned in Boston?

Considering boston seems to ban everything, it probably is.

There's always Ruth's Chris, but it's not a "unique" Boston place by any means.

Forgive my lack of sophistication, but what is so special about white truffles? Do they really taste that good or is it just the rarity factor?
