I inherited a character once from someone who quit the game. Sadly, I did not have the email password and he had a bunch of emails stuck in his queue that I could not clear. They kept flashing and flashing and flashing. I had to strip the account of gil/gear and cancel it because I couldn't take the endless flashing.

If you don't have your email set up in POL will it still go ahead and flash?

I don't remember ever setting up email in POL, unless it defaults to being set up and one must unset it to stop the flash. Flashing is irritating when one cannot stop the flash.

Agreed. I actually log out and check emails if it goes off in game. I loved it when I finally found out how to check messages in game. I didn't know that for a while after I started playing.

I'm in the same boat. I inherited a char. from a friend who quit years ago now. I'm still friends with her, but she doesnt remember the email password. So, I too have to deal with the constant email flashing on her account and it drives me crazy. At least I only need to look over real quick to cure or haste or stun

Not to sound stupid, but would you have the information necessary to be able to contact SE Support and get the email password reset?
I mean if you're able to get into the playonline screen you should be able to get any information from there to clear their security procedure.

If you change the POL password, can change it to the same thing even, makes it stop blinking for whatever reason, dont need the mail password.

I remember vaguely being able to talk to someone via the website help chat thing, where they reset my mail password. I havent tried on my other inherited char, though I really should...

I once got SE to reset the POL password of a character I'd inherited without the registration key but it is not something I would wish to repeat with a character that wasn't originally mine.

I have the inherited char with email flashing thing too... although it tends to go away if you try (and fail) an email send/recieve on the account I found.

I have no idea what sword that is, but that's an Ashura Necklace, Royal Knight's Belt+1, Dodge earrings, Astral Rings (to be fair, one might have been an Ether). Fulltimed. Oh, and that Nexus Cape too, if it wasn't glaringly obvious enough.
