I just beat WotG, but can not decide for the life of me what augments to take. Leaning on Accuracy +4 and either TP Bonus +25 or Occ. Grants Bonus DMG based on TP +5%, but I have no idea what the fuck that means. Is it extra damage based on much TP I have? Or for every 5% TP I have I get an increased chance of more dmg? The Regain seems bad at 1 MP > TP since it likely won't shave off any hits from my build anyway.

Two questions, one might be tech support? Whatever, I'll ask here, anyways.

First, I was reading a thread earlier today on my phone, seen somebody (Failure?) mention using Thorny's RDM spellcast, any chance I can get a link to that, or is it a secret?

Second, I want to build a really good bad computer, just for FFXI.

I used to play on a Dell when the game came out, had XP and it ran well. I couldn't run things on 'high settings' with regedit and all that, but it looked better than ps2, and ran like a dream. If memory serves it was a single core cpu.

I've since moved the game onto a laptop with 64 bt Vista and dual cores, but it just isn't the same. It lags, for lack of a better word.. not lag like you'd think of in an FPS, but lag like anything that isn't background takes forever to load, including mobs and, more importantly, macros. It's not a case of hitting them and having the animation start later, they actually take two or three presses to trigger sometimes. Coupled with mobs loading slowly and yeah... simple things like kiting and soloing are a pain.

But that was three years ago, and now I have a quad core machine with Windows 7, and it seems like the more powerful the cpu, the more pronounced the effect. I cannot solo on this machine. Nothing outside the background loads if I haven't been standing still for at least three or four seconds, and my macro palette takes almost two seconds to load on screen. I've quit assuming it might fire if I just hit the keys, it won't. I can't play like this.

What I want is a nice, 'top of the line' single core windows XP machine. It needs to be able to support a 1920 x 1080 LED monitor. All I need is the tower. The only things it will be used for are FFXI at home and surfing bg/wiki/ah.com. I don't even care about sound, I don't play with any. Just whatever makes FFXI run as smooth as it possibly can.

Can anybody help? Can pm me if it's not suited for here, I'm just really tired of fighting my pcs for control of the game.

Read somewhere (I don't remember where) that Impetus may have a negative effect on crit rate if using RR/GH atma, is this just total bullshit or is there any parse that shows this to be true?

Just checked my chat log (still visible in game) of a fight with Amhuluk using RR+GH. Counted 53 crits out of 60 consecutive hits, 88% crit rate. Had a stretch of like 30 crits in a row after a few non-crits at the start, then had a few non-crits towards the tail end before I stopped counting. Overall I'd say Impetus stacks with them fine.

Believe this is a .dat issue, but whenever a hume uses Sunburst, FFXI crashes out completely. Been trying to solve the issue but can't find an answer. Anyone have a similar problem?

The cheapest way to get it would literally be to walk in a Fry's (or hell, even Walmart), and start looking at what they have in the $3-400 range. Pretty much anything that's even on retail shelves nowdays will utterly destroy XI; all you need is like a 2+ GHz processor and at least 2 gigs of ram, and you're golden.

Does the Teal (as well as Aurore and Perle I suppose) Set Bonus work progressively with each piece? Or is it an all or nothing situation?

All or nothing. You can count on set bonuses that list a specific numerical amount requiring the full set. While Teal does not list one, there's no reason to believe it wouldn't act like its counterparts.
