It's "say" text, I think.
Also, it's amazingly incredibly freaking useful. It has a very high proc rate if you legit-land the spell or WS, over 50%. Can use it on stuff like Ironclad to tell if your WSs were legit.
melee gaiters for counterstance
temple cyclas/+1 and melee gloves for chakra
The ones below aren't essential, but they can suit the situation well if you need it specifically:
temple gaiters/+1 macro in for dodge (can even keep on +1 version for evasion set)
melee cyclas for regen idle set
temple crown/+1 macro in for focus
I thought it just worked like this: If you use a WS 1-x times that isn't in any category or in blue category it will give you the blue proc message. If you cast succesively it will give you the yellow proc (I just spam through ele ni's until I see a message, it's usually about 1 run through if I don't ws). If you start trying for red after 1-x amount of attempts it loads the message. You're saying that everytime you use a potential proc it has a 50% chance of showing you the discernment message?
I can almost guarantee you that the list of situations you'd need other macc merits is even less than those you'd need Convert Recast. Convert recast helps greatly outside Abyssea and inside can allow you to choose more offensive Atma choices, occasionally save you from Oshit situations etc.
Minikin doesn't count as offensive with all that INT? and even if I do 5/5 convert recast, what do I do with the other 5? spread it out to earth/ice/wind/fire? Sounds feasible I guess. As for Group 2, I think I'm just gonna wait and see what I end up using my RDM for.
Ice/Convert like always. And while Minkin is a good damage boost with 50 INT, there's other atmas that provide better damage, which makes them better in nuke-zerg type situations.
Nothing has changed for rdm merits, 5 convert, 5 ice, 1 slow2, 1 para2, 2 dia3, put the other 6 where ever you want because they don't matter.
Along with my Snow Gem question, did anyone ever figure out how the set bonus on Lancer+2 gear worked?
Sorta asked this before, but I want to rephrase it.
Can High Kindred Crests even drop outside of abyssea?
Killed shit-tons of demons (level 81-84) in regular Uleguerand and the new level 86-87 eyes - and didn't get a damn thing...
I'm fairly sure I got them off T crawlers in Rolanberry [S]. That would probably be a good place to farm them.
Is everyone getting their MNK body seals off the VNM in Grauberg, or is there some NM (aside from the Ironclad) that I'm unaware of?
My impression is that ~50-100% of the time when you use a WS and it lands at a time that it could theoretically proc (no TP move or Magic, though it doesn't have to be a proccable WS), it will give you the discernment message. Shinryu is Ironclad-esque, but you can see this if you spam Dia on him. I haven't tested it on non-Shinryu mobs yet. Anyway, getting the message is a good way to tell that you've landed it at a proccable time. We use this to tell us to move on to the next WS. It lets you know that you've landed at a time where the WS would have procced, if it could have. It is hard for me to estimate what the message proc rate is, because I've only been doing Shinryu. On other things it'd be easier to be confident that you landed or didn't land a WS.
Really cuts down on the WS-ing time and "awww, I think that one looked clean" statements.
Also, I've reconsidered about Dark Depths. The Triple Attack Atma or some combination of Double Attack and STP is likely better unless your pDIF is crap.
Need some help making an Evisceration set, as I'm pretty new/retarded on THF. So far I had this in mind:
