You'd need to get lucky. You'll need to either Stun or /Migawari Disgorge until its first Gorge, because for some reason its Disgorges are super-powered until after Gorge has been used once. After it's successfully used Gorge (it's quite easy to trigger-happily Stun it in anticipation of Disgorge, I've accidentally done it a few times) the RDM will need to stand in range in order to avoid the NIN getting one-shotted by subsequent un-Stunned and un-Migawari'd Disgorges. Then it's simply a case of keeping up with the healing which, from my experience, is a pain in the ass with only Cure IV at your disposal, especially when you've got Slowga, debuffs, Purgation, hate reset on sub-40% BWs and so on to deal with as well. Admittedly I only have experience duo'ing Glavoid with a WAR/NIN, but in our case the only way we could win comfortably was with me on WHM/BLM instead of RDM.
I know Kegsay has compiled a nice list of pinning locations for Konschtat/LaTheine, but is there another source out there that has compiled pinning spots of the other Abyssea zones? I've seen sporadic posts for things like Vunkerl near #00 and one in Altepa near #04, but if there's something out there with everything in one place, it'd be a great help. I've tried the search function, but it's few and far between finding results...
In the new zones, I often get time extensions when soloing as BLM. In the older zones I'd think it's easier to start mage/melee and then go mage/mage. Anyone who can nuke can take out the ephemeral murex in the scars zones. Then 5-6 VNM for pearl I guess. You basically want to cap out azure and pearl lights around 30 each. Avoid any ruby or amber kills until you've done so unless I guess you want amber for chest/feet farming.
what´s a good/fast way to skill up melee weapons skill200+? I heard something about hitting a wall in castle S?
Zvahl Fortilaces in Castle Z in the past. Stand at the bottom of the steps near the water just in range to hit the thing and go afk. It'll cap you til 75. Bring a really low damage weapon though, they only have ~5k HP.
can i get a quick rundown of how people do shinryu? i've hear whm mnk war and rdm sam as groups. did a fight last night with 5 and hate at the start seemed really bad (rdm healer x2) before we proc > brew. is there a trick or better way to start the fight before you brew kill?
I was nin/drk stunning ga's, the blm was stunning disgorge. I think if you main hand a sword and save tp for flatblade, nin/drk and rdm can duo, just takes a little while really. Fight took about 30 minutes with the 3 of us, was pretty annoying, also lessen your chance at shells with no thief.
It builds stun resistance. Abusing it is not a good idea.
Assuming I'm 3/3 on abyssite of Kismet does that mean I only need 10 pearl and azure kills to cap?
I'm just getting in to Abyssea VNM's, so forgive me if this is a dumb question.
What sort of success should I be having in converting clear abyssite to colorful? I'm about 0/20 so far soloing Meanderer and I'm trying to figure out if I'm just unlucky, doing something dumb, or if this is typical and I should just keep going. I've proc'd red !! a couple of times, but no success there either.
What are the easiest improvements to work towards if one were to come back to the game now if they haven't played since mid-2009?
Of course getting to level 90 would be the priority. Had pretty good gear at 75, but seems it'is no longer as good. Full Usu MNK, Amano SAM, and Homam THF, but are there any pieces I should quickly buy/get? Too overwhelmed by all the different items that I don't even know what to think about first, especially weapons. First things to work on while getting to 90???
Eventual goals would be helpful too. Keep in mind I will probably have the ability to 2-3box an assortment of mage types. Biggest obstacle is try to grasp all this new stuff...
What's Almace like for BLU?
