    Netflix question!

Is Netflix streaming tied to a geographical location? Do they check against IP addresses?

My dad - who lives out of state - has acquired a Western Digital TV Live Hub thinger. If I were to give him my login for Netflix so he can try to stream on his device, will Netflix drop the banhammer on my husband and I and make us cry?

    Thanks in advance.

You wouldn't know that though because you've demonstrably never picked up a book nor educated yourself on the matter. Let me guess, overweight housewife?

I don't know any specifics, but I have used the netflix streaming while on vacation at various places (live in cali, visit parents in CT, etc.). I think it'd only get redflagged if you are both using it for awhile. and they see them getting used at the same time.

The only limit is on the devices you can have your account activated on ( depending on your plan). I use it on my pc and laptop and my ps3 and my friend uses my account on his wii and 360. As far as I know there is nothing against it since I'm in LA and he is in Baltimore and we have been doing that for about a year.

I don't know if Netflix still does it but when I first signed up they would let you gift a free trial and then if that person signs up you get a credit on your account. Could look into that.

Yeah, I think it's much like purchasing an App or something from Apple and you get a set number of devices it can be tied to. Essentially, sharing it limits your convenience of having it on multiple devices of your own so they hope that limits it.

I have it on brobox, ps3, and pc and haven't had any limitations iTunes style in that regards. The one thing is that you can't stream on teh same account to 2 different pcs at once, even if they are on the same IP so I think that would be the only limitation.

Hmmm... Does logging in with the same account on two devices boot the other offline or...? I gave my dad my Netflix disc for his Wii and I hope it doesn't kick me off of it on my PS3 if he actually uses it.

you're entitled to putting it on six devices, but it can change constantly. i have it on my: pc, iphone, xbox, sister's laptop, dad's laptop, dad's and ps3.

Yes, you can. Different states might red flag it though.

I think in that case he wouldn't be able to log on/able to stream.

I've had 0 problems between using my computer, my Wii (on disc), my mom's computers(same house), and brother's computer(different house) for Netflix. Even with having me, my mom, and my brother all streaming different things at the same time. Only thing that's been constant is the city I guess.

I haven't had any issues with it being used from multiple IPs
