PC freezing while playing Final Fantasy XI.

I'm just looking to see if anyone can help, over the past 2 weeks or so, my PC has been randomly freezing while playing FFXI, it happens roughly every 5 minutes and lasts from 5-10 seconds, I can't think of anything that could be causing it, I haven't changed or added anything in that time.

I have been reading that it's a possible effect from the new AVG update, I have the free version, not sure if this is true or not.

    Any help would be appreicated.

AVG is garbage but that's besides the fact. It's probably not affecting your performance with FFXI.

    Answer these questions:
What kind of graphics card do you have? What operating system are you running? Are you using windower?

nVidia 9600GT, Windows 7 32 bit, Yes I'm using windower.

I uninstalled AVG (went with Microsoft security) and the freezing has stopped, could just be luck, but it's been 3 hours and nothing, but we'll see if it lasts.

Spend 100 bucks, improve your graphics 10 fold too.

AVG could be consistently scanning for something and throttling your memory/CPU processing. Turn off automatic scanning and do it routinely by yourself, even when using Microsoft Security Essentials.
