Yeah, a little too much combat for my personal taste, but still a great game. I didn't get the uncharted vibe as much as I did Arkham Asylum.

Makes me sad![]()
I miss the tomb diving like the original Tomb Raiders.. I might check this title out but meh
I expect that we'd see more actual 'Tomb Raiding' in a sequel but i would say this is still worth getting cause it still does have a fair bit of mystical to it (imo at least), just a pity theres no swan diving in this oneoh the fun i'm sure we all had with that lol
apparently the game was gonna be "Shadow of the Colossus" like at one point

I wish they went with something like this
Beat the game about an hour ago. I loved the game from start to finish. I like how they teased places through out the game that would make great spots to Swan Dive. Just random pieces sticking out on areas high off the ground. Or a wooden bar you could walk onto that lead no where. Makes me think it was possibly considered at one point and they ditched it.
Game was pretty action heavy at times but there was also long segments where you were just exploring and not fighting anyone. Also the more stealth you used, the less gun fights you had.
Small ending spoilers
Spoiler: show
How would you describe or which game would you compare this tomb raider to?
I'm a bit interested but never played the series, and don'T want to throw 65$ for nothing
Arkham City/Asylum-ish exploration, with climbing and combat mechanics more in line with the Uncharted series. Plus a healthy dose of Lara's ass.
i <3 the sideboob we get when she tries to squeeze between tight spaces.
Patch came out for the PC version. TressFX changes are better collision detection, looks alot better, but idk if still worth the performance.
- Addressed some stability and startup issues on machines that have both Intel and NVIDIA graphics hardware.
- Fix for players being unable to progress related to the boat in the beach area.
- Some fixes for crashes on startup and when selecting Options.
- Some small improvements to TressFX hair rendering.
- Fixes for various graphics glitches, including certain effects not being visible in fullscreen mode.
- Fixed a problem that caused some users to not be able to use exclusive fullscreen.
- Added support for separate mouse/gamepad inversion for aiming, as well as support for x-axis inversion.
- Fixes related to the benchmark scene and benchmark mode.
- Various other small fixes.
I have a strange problem on xbox. Twice now I've had an issue where the next part of the "level" doesn't load. I see the current area just abruptly end, and if I keep walking, its like I'm walking on air. I've been able to continue by reloading last checkpoint, but like I said, its happened twice and I'm sure it'll happen again. The disc is in perfect condition and I installed the game on HDD before I started it. Anyone else experience this?
Looks like the patch fixed crashes for Nvidia users (or at least on my 680), started a new playthrough on Hard and went around 2 hours without any crashes w/ Tessellation and Exclusive Fullscreen enabled.
Can't say I've had that problem either Skidz. =/
Also, that river ride with the hard to see pipes of death was horrible.
one time I loaded up and the area behind me (an optional tomb I believe) did not load at all and I fell into the void
The only bugs I've come across is falling through the geometry once, and on two occasions, both within the first two hours of the game, had the music skip and keep repeated the last sound that played. It happened once when Lara was telling you about a relic, so she was shouting "the" for about 60 seconds until I decided to save and quit. Fast travel also fixed it.
Edit: on PS3
oh also in one of the cutscenes I drew the bow back but there was no arrow in it so it looked really goofy
God that river ride was horrible. Thankfully its short.
Game is the best single player game ive played in a long time, my only complaint is that the tombs are way too short. I went in expecting tombs to be a big part of the game, was fine when I realized they weren't, then disappointed as time went on and realized each tomb can be completed with one puzzle a 3rd grader could figure out.
I will admit that it was kinda disappointing. To add insult to injury, they felt the need to start beating you over the head with the answer if you took more than two minutes to get it.
So how long is the game and how much replayability can you get out of it?
I'm tempted to buy the game but I'm looking for an excuse to wait for it to drop in price.
Id wait, but thats just cause the experience wont change if you wait unlike that with a multiplayer game. Im trying to 100% on my first time through, working so far. Havent been keeping track of time played, but you can probably dedicate a weekend or two and finish it 100%.
