i finished at 96% earlier, pretty much done with the game as the only thing left is finishing off a bunch of the challenges, which is so massively tedious i don't know if i can be bothered. i wanna finish getting the trophy for maxing out all weapons as i only have one bow upgrade left, but i'm 400 salvage short of my last upgrade after killing everything i've been able to find post-game, and nothing seems to be respawning. i've zoned a billion times, quit to main menu, quit the game, etc. and nothing seems to work.
any ideas?
Did you hit up the extra area in the DLC tomb (assuming you have it)? Around 600-700 salvage in there
Finished at around 91%, seems so close but so tedious to 100% everything. And then have to get 60 in MP to complete achievements.. No thanks.
Finished the game on Sunday with 100%... However the campaign and side missions left me about 1500 salvage short of macing out my last weapon. Not sure how to get that.
All in all, it was the best single player game I've played in a long time.
I'm confident I got all or most salvage boxes and was still a couple hundred short. Just go to the first place, where you get the bow, and hunt animals. Tons of deer and rabbits, like 15-20 salvage for deer and around 8 for bunnies. Doesn't take too long if you just need a couple hundred to finish off.
I'm guessing this depends on how often you looted and what order you took upgrades in. I was also a few hundred short, but getting the last GPS cache put me over and then some.
The lack of enemies at endgame is pretty annoying (as is the fact that there's no way to indicate progress towards a certain achievement/trophy you can miss).
I liked the little bit of the multiplayer that I played. It was like Uncharted, but it felt like the pace was much slower. Less run, gun, and die and more...trap, kill patiently, and run like a little bitch. Biggest problem is the bullshit grindy trophies.
Beat this last night....I need the next one!
i wound up biting the bullet and finishing the the remaining challenges. between the last couple of stragglers i bumped into and dozens of crows/chickens/rabbits, i managed to scrounge up just enough by the time i finished my last challenge.
only SP trophies i missed were the ones for conversations with the crew members, zipline kills, and dodge counters (which, i have no idea how i missed this because I used that move constantly as soon as i got access to it).
i enjoyed the game on the whole, but i probably would've walked away with a much better impression if i'd just gone straight through doing the storyline. going for collectibles and challenges was really not-fun, the only side part that was kinda enjoyable for me were the tombs, but they were far too easy and there were far too few of them... it was a neat idea with lots of potential, but it was really poorly executed imo.
Patch came out today, bug fixes/TressFX stuff. Also adds in a new Ultra option for Shadows.
Also Nvidia beta drivers (314.21) that list Tomb Raider performance and stability came out today as well.
314.21? All I see is 314.14?
Dumb question. I read somewhere that made me think once you beat the game you can still go back and get your 100% without having to restart a whole new game. Is that true? Are there any differences between finishing the game at 100% or finishing then going back to get 100%?
AFAIK there are some miss able weapon upgrades, but not sure if those count toward the 100%.
This game is a fucking gaming masterpiece. I just wish they implemented a difficulty level that actually punished you for not timing shots, jumps, or having to conserve ammo... reminded me of my frustrations while playing Dishonored. Developers coddle gamers too much. Hope they put out some hard ass DLC puzzle tomb filled with bears and shit :D
So.. when is the next one coming out? because i can't wait to play more of this shit. I think they hit the sweet spot on shotting/platforming the only thing i would change it's probably the difficulty of the "puzzles" (although sometimes i was 10 mins clueless about what to do until i realised i could jump and climb some boxes d_d) Tombs are waaaaaaaay to easy and short. Also i loved how real the scale and magnitude of things felt, it's definetly one of the best games of 2013 so far. Bring it on Crystal we're waiting to throw money at you!
there's a trophy for having conversations with the crew members throughout the game that's easily missable, and the convos start very early on. i'm also guessing if you didn't get the zipline kills trophy by the time you finish the story, you'll need to start a new file as i never encountered any ziplining enemies in my postgame wrap-up.
i also don't know if it's feasible or possible to max out your weapons without 100%ing the game, simply because you get such a large amount of experience from completing each relic and document category. you can't really make up the difference through hunting either since that quickly gets reduced to 1xp/kill after you gain a certain amount in each region of the game, and i don't believe that resets either.
to answer the original question, there's no real point to 100%'ing unless you're just a completionist or are going for trophies/achievements. but all of the documents/relics/caches & area challenges should be accessible after beating the game.
