Just picked up the game tonight and started playing it.
This isn't really a complaint about Tomb Raider as it is about all video games;
Why do all video games now need to splash blood/water on the screen as if there is a literal camera following the player? I can see it's raining, I don't need little annoying spots of water on the screen to let me know that it is.
If it did something to the gameplay, like if it was a rain storm or something that obscures your vision, fine I understand that, but why does seemingly every video game do this?
Is this a feature people complain about if it's missing from a game? Or is this just some odd thing every company decided to put in for no reason other than because someone put it in a game a long time ago and everyone's just done it since for no reason other than to not be different? Personally it immediately takes me right out of the game. Literally as well as figuratively in this case as I'm sitting here typing this out with Tomb Raider on pause god damn it.
I've seen it done really well one time in I think it was God of War 3? Might be wrong on that. But it's telling you to smash a button to punch somebody's face in and as you do blood flies into the screen. You can stop smashing the button after like the second time, but if you keep going, you'll end up with the entire screen covered in blood.
That was God of War 3, right?
