Preordered two CE's (one for me one for the wife), kept the preorders despite that abortion of a beta, and still have one CE sealed. The wife saw my tears and decided to not play. She is obviously the smart one between us.

Preload of Tomb Raider is available on Steam, 9 gb download, about 11 once installed.

Also, AMD stated that Tressfx will work on Nvidia cards.

So is there any actual tomb raiding in this game? I know this is a reboot and all, but isn't the title a bit amiss if its more of a survival thriller? I haven't played Tomb Raider since, ohh.. maybe #3... anyway, is this going to be a setup for further games perhaps?

There will be a sequel for sure given how positive the reviews have been. I don't know if there is actual "tomb raiding" in the game, but I believe I read that there is in the Kotaku or Joystiq reivew.

Reviews stated there's random tombs scattered around the island with environmental puzzles and whatnot. Totally optional though.

As said, there are optional tombs scattered through the game, but they are really really short, like 5 minutes long.

So dumb question, but is that "controversial" implied rape scene still in the game? Been trying to find a youtube video of it when I told my wife about it and she rolled her eyes but all I can find are some garbage clips with people talking loudly during the preview.

I believe it's still in the game. The scene in question, from what I can remember, is this dude running his hands down her side and stopping on her hip before she knees him in the junk. Whether or not there is more to that scene, I don't know, but I think the whole rape thing was blown up from the previewer mentioning it, not from the scene itself.

Yup, that's the scene and yea, it wound up making angry joe's top ten controversies for 2012, tied with the nun dominatrix assassins in Hitman.

Probably, also tressfx makes the hair hi-res sure, but lol@the animations.

Tressfx is apparently murder on frame rates, in the 30-40 range on single GPU setups. Unlock in the US is a few minutes away so I'll find out myself soon.

Tressfx comes out to average 20 fps difference in the in game benchmark for a Gtx 680/i5-3570k. 42 with and 62 without. All other settings maxed out.

And yeah, full controller support.

Apparently severe crash bug with nvidia cards and tresalation enabled. I had to disable it.
