PS2/3 Drive Space Update Error [now w/ Xbax]

Getting this error on both PS2 and PS3 (80 gig):

Some PS2 people aren't getting error but I have free'd up at least 400mb on the HDD leaving nothing but FFXI (no Tetra Master) and still getting the error after file check.

Same, getting error on PS2 + PS3 (Refurbished 80 GIG from FRY's).

Calling POL right now to confirm known issue.

PS3 is now downloading the update on the 2nd try.

Still on hold over the phone to confirm.

UPDATE: Known issue, check Playonline.com for further details in the day, should be resolved in the next few hours.

Recently got off the phone with POL, and all they have to say is "That's too bad"....but seriously all they have to say is that it is a know issue but seems to be a platform specific issue only and have no current plans to remedy the situation atm. Ended with check the playonline website in 2 hours for any new info.

so i get past the very 1st check then get a message saying not enough space on my HDD (ps2) only thing i have on it is ffxi (at least that i know of) where can i check whats on it to be sure (says capacity: 38,144 free space; 24,832)

My brother and I both got this error, I talked to SE and all they said was to check files on the POL main screen which i'm doing but not expecting it to fix shit.

FFXI reserves 8 GB of drive space for its partition on the PS2 HDD. It used to be 5 GB before Rise of the Zilart. Apparently they ran out of unused space on the partition to store downloaded patch files, so they need to increase the reserved space for the game again, and they forgot to do so. That's funny because the total size of the files in that partition in March was only about 4 GB.

It's not looking for free space on the hard drive you can check in the Browser, it's looking for free space inside the game partition, which you can't check without uLaunchELF. FFXI's file would have taken more than 8 GB long ago if it increased with every update, but they reserved that 8 GB without using it all, until now.

Yeah, I remember the ps3 had to increase its partition to 11 gigs a while back and it's getting same issue. The thing that makes no sense to me though is how some people are unaffected by it.

edit: Maybe pictures, macros, map data, idk what else put it just over the limit? I do have multiple characters on each.
