anyone able to DL it on ps2/3 yet?
.............
No go for my ps2.
I finished about 20 minutes ago, kept getting txt error, finally let me dl after about 100 tries. No hiccups.
keeps saying i need more harddrive to download update
all i have is ffxi on xbox no other games
go buy a 200$ PC and run FFXI better then you could ever experience on 360
How much room is on your hard drive?
if it is a partition issue as someone mentioned on page 1, how exactly would they make our hardrives reserve more space for FF?
says i need 1.3G so i deleted playonline portion on xbox harddrive so will know in few minutes
it did free up 4.3 g
My PS3 was downloading for a while, but now keeps getting POL-1556 (Network Error -500) >.> I gave up on my old PS2, guess it's time to retire her... Had that thing since PS2s first came out, old faithful ^^;
They can allocate it with a patch. They already did it years ago when Rise of the Zilart came out, expanding the partition by 3 GB. I believe it was a PlayOnline patch that did it. They're going to have to redo something in this patch for PS2 users to expand it and then start patching.

Regarding an Issue Affecting PlayStation 2 Version (Dec. 6): Follow-up
Concerning the issue where players are unable to complete the version update and receive a message stating that there is not enough free space on the PlayStation BB Unit, the matter is still under investigation, but it appears that it could require a considerable amount of time to implement a solution.
In the mean time, if you are experiencing the issue described above, performing a clean installation of FINAL FANTASY XI may resolve the issue for you.
* Please be aware that a clean installation will reset all macros, map markers, and settings to their default values.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your patience.![]()

Has anyone tried this yet? I am wondering due to the fact that my PS2 can no longer read disk, if this had any effect at all...
Found this in another forum thread.Regarding an Issue Affecting PlayStation 2 Ver.: Follow-up 2
We would like to provide an update regarding the issue where players are unable to complete the version update and receive a message stating that there is not enough free space on the PlayStation BB Unit.
We have determined that the version update is being performed, but in some cases unnecessary files are being saved to the hard disk. These files might accumulate and take up hard disk space, thus preventing the version update from being completed.
Deleting these unnecessary files will allow you to perform the version update, but in order to delete them you must first perform a clean installation of FINAL FANTASY XI.
We apologize for the inconvenience, but if you are experiencing the issue described above, we ask that you please perform a clean installation of FINAL FANTASY XI.
Please note that we are planning on implementing a method for version updates to be performed even when there is little space available on hard drives.
* Even after the implementation of this system, a clean installation will be required to remove unnecessary files.
[How to Perform a Clean Installation]
1. Start the PlayOnline Viewer
2. Insert the PlayOnline/FINAL FANTASY XI disc into the Playstation 2 3. Select "Install" from the left menu of the PlayOnline login screen 4. Select FINAL FANTASY XI as the software that you wish to install 5. Once the FINAL FANTASY XI screen is displayed, select "Start Installation"
6. Once the following message is displayed, select "Yes"
FINAL FANTASY XI is already installed.
Reinstalling this disc will overwrite all existing FINAL FANTASY XI files.
Your character data will not be lost.
However, before you can play, you will have to download all the updates from the PlayOnline servers again.
Begin reinstallation?
7. Once the following message is displayed, select "No"
Preserve user settings file?
Select "Yes" to reinstall with customized settings such as macros and marker data left intact.
select "No" to perform a clean installation that restores default settings.
A clean installation is recommended if you are having problems with the program data.
8. Clean installation will now begin
Honestly, if that's the only fucking "fix" they're going to provide I am going to be mega pissed... losing all my macros, map markers.. and the most fun part, hunting all the fucking ps2 discs down again
-_-
That has got to be the most ridiculous response to a problem I have ever seen. They can't fix the update in any way, console users just have to suck it for a day or two and reinstall.
Maybe it wouldn't be so bad if there wasn't the hours long patch. I'm real glad I gave it up and got onto the PC (you should do this, it might be faster)
so if we perform a new installation -.- wont we continue to run into the same exact problems regardless when we reinstall, and attempt to save…our macros or something?
"Please note that we are planning on implementing a method for version updates to be performed even when there is little space available on hard drives.

really SE? the fucking hard drives arent running out of space you idiots -,- your fucking partition is
Well you shouldn't have to worry about your map markers and macros.... Just save/upload them to POL Server. Once you start fresh on a new PS2 installation, reload/download them back <_<. No go on to find your disks!
Except you can't log on the game to save them to the server...
