and apparently all our procs went out because nothing dropped ; ;

Just so you know, for them to be lost Shinryu would have had to go idle, not just go yellow. Procs remain active on an NM as long as they remain aggroed to someone. Once it idles though, that's when you lose any grellow, blue, and/or red procs you have on it.
