Which is exactly what should have happened. If you are going to do a PUG for something like Rani you make damn sure that the people you pick know what the fuck they are doing, because he didn't know what the fuck he chose a bunch of retards and was rewarded with a wipe. If you actually read the whole story you'd know that there was no chance they were going to win, better a group come along that can actually get the win and clean up his mess than it go completely to waste.

I had read the entire story, including the Sobek incident. He may very well be the stupidest jerk in the world, but that doesn't negate that it was his earned pop and without getting into a huge ethical debate, I just think it would have been the better thing to do to allow him a spot in the alliance for the win because of that fact alone. Afterall, the new alliance was already benefiting from his stupidity in failing at the Rani win with a PUG. Because they were being rewarded for his effort, the least they could have done was allow him a spot in the ally. But they just didn't like him, so they didn't.

To be fair, I wouldn't HP doing anything in Abyssea with a PUG that requires I be there at a specific point of the battle(in this case, the death) to complete the task. The likelihood of some moron finishing it off before I was able to return isn't something I'd test.

When in a pickup group the best thing to do is be as far away as possible during the last 10~20% because some dumbfuck (generally a blu) will always wipe the entire alliance and get a killshot while everyone is dead. Not my personal experience yet cause i dont trust pickups that much but my friends who have been in pickups have a seething hatred for all blu now.

Coincidentally, I'd realized after I'd woken this morning that people may make this misconception, so I should make an important clarification: the person claiming in /shout that it was his mob, well, it wasn't his at all. He was one of the PUG members who didn't have any pop items. I alluded to this in the /tells to my friend Tiddys, but should've specified.

EDIT: Also, the person who organized the alliance didn't have any pop items at all; we eventually found someone who had one, but we had to kill the NM for the other.

I was leveling BRD in that zone on the Dolls. My friend had told me that the PUG group got it to about 30%(?) before they eventually wiped, or 20%, It could have been 90%, IDR and can't verify cause when i ran up to it it was @ ~95% claimed by Kupo, I'd imagine if they wiped around ~20% Kupo wouldn't be one of those LS who think a mob needs to regen to full or even 1 tick to unrage, So i'm going with bad intel and they probably wiped near ~90% which is further hilarious.

Either way, I Did watch some of the fight when it got to low HP, it looked pretty tense, I recall.. 2 Brews and multiple dead bodies, as well as just nickin' the win. I had no idea the amount of drama behind this or the hilarity.

Being that I was the 2nd brewer, i'll put this out there... I'm a very impatient person. Our 1st brewer was BLM and was taking too much time. This was our I wanna say 8th or 9th Rani of the night (4-5 of which we farmed) and I just wanted to be done. It seemed like another group was gonna pop another one... I just brewed on WAR to make it dead. Was never a tense situation just me being very very VERY tired of being in abyssea (9-10hrs of killing mobs to pop Rani, kill Rani and cleaning up others' failed runs). Oh and that PUG that Kohan was in, was holding Rani for 2+ hours. We let them idle it once after it raged and they STILL couldn't kill it.

Believe it or not, this happened twice -- a rage, release, and reclaim -- so it really was awful. I'd tolerated the first rage and release because I thought, "well, there's a fair amount of competent people in this PUG, and we should be able to pull it together"...

It truly was a hopeless sight by the second time it was reclaimed, and I feel sympathetic toward those folks who warped out and abandoned the whole deal. As for that beggar SMN, I'm glad there were only a couple of vacancies in my friend's alliance; hard-headed douchebags can bite me.

I really should have taken a picture of his ranting (and regret that I hadn't), but when people were tired of the meaningless fight, and I was the one to step forward and say, "it's over, everyone, but thanks for your efforts," he rattled off a variety of colorful curses, and as mentioned, called me a pussy. He argued that he'd put so much time and effort into this (though he hadn't brought any KIs, as mentioned), when he'd put in the same effort as the rest of us; he, basically, went on and on about how terrible this was and how dare everyone give up, while everyone else told him to stop already, as he'd just make more people die. He did exactly that, by the way, as he, weakened, used a summon to reclaim Rani and brought it back to where people were recovering.

Definitely, I feel no remorse for him whatsoever, and I'm delighted he watched my friend and I put up our flags and get invited to the alliance that claimed the abandoned Rani. That wasn't even planned, mind you; it just happened to be a group with a good friend of mine in it, and I'm really glad it was.
